1) Hope to see the 1st team offensive line play well. 2) Anxious to see Geno.....especially from under center. Too much shotgun formation last year. 3) Be nice to see Decker get a couple catches....see our new toy in action. 4) Want to see Babin in action as well... JETs have been starving for a good edge rusher.
I'm most interesting to see how this secondary looks against a pretty solid Colts passing game. The Colts pass defense last year was right in the middle of the NFL, so it will be a good test for Geno too. I have a feeling he will look pretty good out there. I am also expecting Amaro to get a ton of playing time. Getting into a real game may be all it takes for him to get going and really start figuring things out.
I'm just hoping to actually get thru this without any major injuries. Play wise, looking to see just how far this offense has come from last year. I'm not worried at all about the defense but ST's needs to show a lot of improvement as well. One last thing, can we get thru this season with our Punter or do we have to go to Walmart and find another one...
I'm looking forward to seeing the new guys. That means Vick, Decker, Ford, CJ, Richardson, Giancomini, all 12 picks, and the UDFAs of note (Hyder, Young, Grady, Zach Thompson (Ashburn represent!), and Divitto).
I'm not putting much stock into what the 1st defense does tonight. Rex is typically extremely vanilla in preseason openers schematically & tends to play alot of cover 2 & cover 3 w/ some 4 man rushes. I would expect the Colts to use alot of max protect as they want to protect luck against the Jets monster 4 man front. Luck w/ lots of time against vanilla defenses leaving the middle of the field vacant will likely lead to some extended drives. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets offense tries to throw the ball around the yard. Jets have always been able to run the ball down the Colts throat & while it'd move the ball it likely doesn't accomplish much more than building some confidence & extending drives. Let's see exactly where this passing game stands against a decent but unspectacular back end/pass rush. If pass pro breaks down have CJ2K run some safety valve routes to shake off the rust & keep Geno clean. No injuries & no controversy.
I want to see the offense drive down the field and score a touchdown. "We got this." Seriously, fucking score. I don't want to see a 3 and out, false starts, and big plays accompanied by holding penalties. I don't want to see more of the same from this offense.
If scoring is what you want & the Jets are in agreement, I would expect to see them run the ball quite a bit. Jets have a major advantage there on paper. I just worry that it may not accomplish much more than confirm that our running game is good & the Colts run D is lousy. And also risk an injury to our elite RB stable.
I doubt we'll see the first team for more than a couple drives on each side, but I will be paying attention the most to Geno Smith & Stephen Hill. After that McDougle, who I suspect will play more and be with the 2s. I'd like to see an offense that doesn't look anemic. That will be the most important thing going into this year.
Your expecting to see all this from a few series?with a watered down playbook?I'm more excited to see the backups were gonna see a lot more of them anyway
You guys are going to see all of this with the starters playing a quarter? Thats about 2-3 possessions at most by each unit. Decker might not catch a pass, CJ mY not touch the ball. smith might throw only 5-6 passes. The defense will be vanilla. Most of this game is going to be played by players who will not be here in four weeks .
#1 no serious injuries #2 no serious injuries #3 no serious injuries #4 Geno to have a command of the offense, I don't need to see points just have a command, move the ball, make good decisions.
#1. No Injuries! #2. The Starting Offense moving the ball with some Consistency. #3. The starting Defense Playing solid with no big plays being given up. #4. Somebody stepping up on special teams and earning a roster spot. It doesn't matter what position.
