Coles is a leader. His play on the field is enough credentials.

    Happy for Manny

As a Rutgers alum and ticket holder I am pretty happy to see Manny Collins in Jet Green. His Practice Squad status is like a consolation prize for us Rutgers fans that were hoping for Brian Leonard. From what I've seen and heard this pre season this guy has a chance to stick around.

All the Ellis comment is, is an attempt to put the guy down.

he already does that by himself. spending most of the time on gameday on his back, getting pancaked by tight ends

Are you serious? DL are useless on gameday? Really? I'd be interested to know what day you think they WOULD be useful. And I'm sure just about every LB, S and CB would disagree with that comment as well. Wow.

Again. Wow. You really need an argument for a defensive line? Really? OK, I don't care if you're Deion Sanders, Champ Baily (or pick your own secondary stud), do you think any NFL QB (starter or backup) would have less than 1,000 yards passing on gameday if team played defense without a line?

    Come on man

Ever been on a football team before? Or ANY sports team for that matter? The captain is A LOT more responsibility than just representing the team at midfield for the coin toss....

I think you didn't understand what he was saying. Defensive linemen don't make any calls. They can barely see the field, they don't study formations the way safeties and middle linebackers do. So in that sense they are kind of useless. Safeties and middle linebackers talk to the coaches once they're in the huddle. They make every call, they are responsible for every call they have made. Do you really think a rookie cornerback can just walk over to a defensive end and ask him what his responsibility is on that particular play?
