The rankings mean nothing, but it's nice to see the Jets on top of them. I care more about wins though, and I don't want this streak to end.
It was kind of weird watching the pre-game show last night. It seemed like they were going on about Moss and Favre and other Viking stories, with breaks for that Viking's DVD, for like 25 minutes. Nothing about the Jets?!? Then Chris Carter is talking, still, about Moss. WTF? But then, they did their picks, and everyone other than Carter, when do you see that happen? picked the Jets. And gave their reasons why. Of course they were right. But, it made me feel a bit weird seeing them all pick the Jets. On one hand I agreed with their reasoning in doing so. But aren't these at least some of the guys who usually are merely being gasbags? Jackson was particularly adamant. I'm listening to him and thinking, wow this guy flat out believes! But is that a good thing? I don't know...
yeah jackson was funny "there's a reason rex is saying 'soon to be champs' & 'we're gonna meet the POTUS'!" he's on the bandwagon for sure.
It stems from how the jets are playing in every single phase of the game. There isn't anyone playing better, save maybe the steelers and ravens.
The analysts were all dealing with an unusually long period of time in which they had to fill air because of the rain delay. They really couldn't fill all that time talking about the Jets because aside from LT there just aren't any good stories around the Jets at this point that go much beyond "well, it's happening, we'll see if it continues..." Favre and Moss on the other hand was very news worthy, given the history that both players have created in the NFL at this point in their careers and the fact they were going to be playing together for the first time. It's very rare that you see one of the all-time great deep passers teamed up with one of the great all-time deep receivers. They could have talked about that for an hour and not been done yet. I also think they were under instructions not to turn that extended pre-game into a media spectacle about the Favre-Sterger thing. That meant Favre-Moss got a lot of air, much of it hot.
Fanhouse and a few others had us at #1 last week, I'm curious to see if we held that spot. I know, I know, these are meaningless.
Actually the period I was referring to was before it started raining. Including when they all picked the Jets, except for Carter. As for the other comments, I sense that the media now has concluded that the Jets are for real, that the distractions are not preventing them from playing well, that Ryan is effective, and the players have bought in. But... we all need to be careful about the conventional wisdom, since conventional wisdom is problematic, and it certainly seems to be the conventional wisdom including by some I normally do not give much credence to that the Jets are a top team, maybe the best, in the league right now. On a certain level, that can be... troubling.
Florio/PFT have the Jets #1. His comments lately about the Jets suggest he's jumping on the bandwagon..
They reflect national perception of the NFL. They mean about as much as any of the posts on this message board.
Yeah this is the quote- "1. New York Jets (No. 1 last week; 4-1): When a clumsily-built lead begins to collapse, plenty of teams fold. The Jets didn't." So true- AbdulSalam, these mean nothing just like every other opinion sports article, but it is a message board what else would we talk about all week? Unless you have some game film we can break down or something?
3 Jets They made it interesting against the Vikings in a game that didn't have to be that way. Word of warning this week in Denver: Be careful. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/14118550/nfl-power-rankings-saints-arent-looking-so-hot-now Word of warning: Be careful. Thanks Pete.
my top 10 are 1) NYJ 2) Balt 3) Pitt 4) ATL 5) Indy 6) NE 7) Ten 8) Hou 9) KC 10) Chi you have 1 team in the NFC in the top 9. Hou and KC do not belong in the top 10. Houston got blown out this week. I would still include New Orleans in the top 10.
especially if baltimore loses against NE, but analysts will probably give it to the Steelers who will cream the Mangini Shitstains
Very curious to see how a weak Pats D coupled with losing their #1 WR handle things the rest of the way. We get to see if Welker can hold his own.
HArd for the Ravens to not be #1 seeing as they are the only team to beat who most will have a #'s 2 and 3. Its good to be near the top of the pile while not playing our best football yet.
