No to Chandler Jones. Makes little sense for this team right now. Derek Barnett from the Eagles makes sense. Philadelphia isn't going anywhere. He's underperformed and on the last year of his rookie contract. Good audition for possible new contact.
No one is giving up anything more than a mid late round pick for one year of his service. Also the team would be taking on the $$$. Only more could be given if they retain some $$. Otherwise 4th 5th rounder probably. If the Arizona and him are really ready to move on ( bridge has been burned) otherwise he will just play out his last season.
btw... if I post/paste something... doesnt mean I have vetted it... just that I have seen it and am sharing... to wit
This is a win/win for the Jets if they stand pat. If nobody steps up, we go 4-13 and get another very high DP for JD to either work with or parlay into more picks. If somebody does step up, then we continue developing thru '21 and get Lawson back in '22 to form a lethal DLine.
I have to agree.. let our in house players have a chance ..we’re not a pass rusher away from a playoff team why waste the money? At best we could win 8 or 9 games with 2 first round picks and 2 Second round picks we could Address this problem in the draft
Bingo-rooney. No need to give up any significant capital when this is a 6-9 win team that needs every break in the world to get to the latter number. And we've already had a break go against us. Let's roll with what we have. 6th round pick for another professional defensive end and that's about all of want us to give up. 5th round pick maybe.
I posted this in the news thread but it makes more sense here. One guy I'd take a flyer on is Marcus Davenport with the Saints. He's still extremely raw but has elite physical ability. Comes from a small school (UTSA) and was reached for in the first round, he probably should have gone in the third. He's 24 years old, he's got a great burst and is huge, fast and strong as hell, but his technique is utter dogshit and the Saints have done nothing to fix it apparently. Watch some of his Saints highlights, he tackles with his fingers. I mean every time he gets to the ball carrier he tries to throw them down by their jersey and pads, he doesn't wrap up. Yeah the Jets would have their work cut out for them re-training him, but if they could get him to be even an average tackler and teach him a couple of speed moves, you combine that with his size and strength and violence, that could be a real weapon from the edge.
One of the great moments in TV history! Was a little kid on Vacay in FL with the fam and begged my parents to get back to the hotel in time to see it...
I am okay with bringing In competition, depth, upgrades If possible. I'm not okay with spending high though on any of those options. It's not worth It. We aren't winning a ton this year. We are set up nicely moving forward. All ya gotta do, Is not feed into your own BS, we get to the off-season, we come out a much better team heading into 22'. We can all hope. Anything more than a 5th. I'm not doing It. Be smart JD.
I agree with you about not trading, but not about when we will be competing. I think we will be competing for a playoff spot next year, not in 3 years. If it takes 3 years, something is wrong. In 2024, if 2023, I expect us to be one of the SB favorites.
