Don't be surprised if Mays is gone by the time the Jets draft... I mean, really the kid is 6-3, about 220 and runs a 4.35 40. Can you name a safety in the history of the NFL with those specs?
Yeah and what army of players are you going to bring in to fill the void? There's a salary cap you know... If we need to flip that many players to make your boy look good then your boy isn't good.
OK, Murrell and Spencer are reserves that take up almost no cap space. Spencer is a good STer I believe and was OK as a reserve. Bowens makes great depth at either LB position. Maybe a restructure, but he's worth keeping. Coleman too is worth keeping. He's at least a rotational guy. Why the hell would we need to drop Henry or Reed? As if it would make a difference. Reed didn't even see the field and Henry is on the practice squad. Franks is the only guy I agree with. Yeah, I'll be honest, this is crappy offseason plan idea...
Thanks not a problem. I'm glad this thread has provoked over 5 pages of discussion in about eight hours.
lol. the only three i was serious about were bowens. franks. and devito. We need to have someone else rotating at DE, Bowens is ancient and Franks will not have his Packers QB next season. Plus Chris Baker will continue to start over him and Keller will see more time in the slot and double TE packages.
Franks needs to go. I don't agree with you on DeVito, but I understand you hate him. He makes the bare minimum. Why would you cut him? Just let him go through camp and preseason and see if he can make the team again. Bowens is about 32, but he still had 4 sacks and an INT this season in a reserve role. He can backup both ILB and OLB and is certainly worth keeping if he contract isn't too heavy. If it is and we get another LB (Dansby would be perfect), then you can talk about cutting him.
