I can understand why though, and I guess they felt he had strong leadership qualities with everyone showing up. In reality, it was just that he's a dick and he's popular - typical USC jock. Josh Freeman has matured though, gotta credit Schiano for doing so.
That is nonsense - pretty much every mock draft had Sanchez as a top 10 lock in the draft and most had him as a top 5 pick - almost everyone in draftnik land thought that Sanchez was the better prospect.
This is the problem I have with it -- Sanchez didn't pan out. He's obviously not the answer. The Jets are going to have to develop another QB. Why wouldn't you start Tebow just to see? Why go through the pain of drafting and developing another QB without at least finding out if you've got one on your roster? The only reason would be stubbornness and a desire to avoid being laughed at and scoffed at by pundits on ESPN, or by players like Cromartie or something. Because it undeniably makes sense to find out if you've lucked out and got another QB on your roster -- even if you end up drafting one to develop, it's good to have options.
