Sanu runs short seam routes, where Anderson is more of a fly route runner. He also plays in a more effective offense, with the best WR in the league drawing lots of attention. Obviously that all effects target/catch ratio. Anderson is a way more impactful player than Sanu. It's not even close. However, I will say Sanu is very nice fit for the dink and dunk Pats offense.
You're basically out of your mind. Robbie wouldn't get on the field in AZ. The 6th round pick Keesean Johnson (no relation) runs better routes and is more sure handed than Robbie. Robbie has week hands, a low catch ratio to targets and has inflated states because the Jets are generally losing and teams play a soft zone against the Jets all the time. The Pats jammed him and he disappeared.
My main concern with Anderson is that I don't trust him. He's not exactly a guy with his head on straight, and who knows how he will react to millions guaranteed. I would consider trading him, but only at a good value.
So my question to you is are you giving him 5 years/$60 million? Which amounts to roughly about $12 million per year. Adjusted for two years later that's around what Tyler Lockett and Sterling make. And right below the likes of Alshon Jeffrey, Keenan Allen, and TY Hilton make. Is he anywhere near those players?
Explain when Diggs has a catch ratio of close to 80% this year with a yards per catch of 18.7 and Robbie is under 46% with a YPC of 15.6. FYI he ranks 180 this year in active catch ratio out of 183. Robbie can't be a 1 on any team. Any no. 1 CB will eat him at the LOS.
Look at Robbies highlight film. Most of his highlight plays are against soft zones where he is wide open. There was not one highlight catch where he was jammed at the line by a top CB.
Unfortunately, if using the draft asset to find our next a RT or either Guard for the next 10 years, bye Robby
Which is why I’d look to pair him with a top WR who can consistently beat the jam and a teams best CB. I think we’ve seen enough to know that Robby isn’t a legit #1 WR, I think we’ve also seen enough to know that he could be a very dangerous weapon and would be even more dangerous if teams had to worry about anyone else on the Jets offense, let alone had a top WR on the other side of him.
lol, so now you shift the comparison to Diggs? Your argument was that Sanu was a way better player than Anderson, while comparing apples to oranges. I'm not surprised.
typically teams trying to jam him will also provide safety help over the top (unless they have a stud CB). That occupies two guys. If he had a Julio Jones on the other side, they wouldn't be able to occupy two guys on the deep threat, and likely would have to play off.
I'm not comparing him to Diggs. You're argument that longer passes would result in a lower catch ratio was my point. Diggs has a high catch ratio because they throw the ball to him when he's wide open down the field. Robbie has a shitty catch ratio based on any metric of NFL WR.
This statement shows that you have nothing, your ass has been handed to you and you can't make a cogent argument.
So you are 'not comparing him to Diggs', as you go on to compare him with Diggs? Diggs is a better player. Your argument though was that Sanu who runs high percentage routes with Julio and Ridley on the field, is a better player because of target catch ratio. It was a stupid comparison.
To be fair. The pats put Gilmore in him and that was that. But that’s nothing to be ashamed of. Gilmore is that good this year.
lol no he doesn't you clearly haven't watched any of their games. their WRs are pretty trash tier outside of an aging larry. they let their WR1 from last year walk to buffalo and he's still not good lol. They were so desperate at WR they signed cooper who's been cut by a few teams this year and never made it in the NFL and even he's taken away snaps from them. their offense moves on the ground with the run game and murrays legs and him making a throw here and there after buying time. very similar to the ravens offense which also lacks WR talent as a whole I'd give him roughly the same shepard got last offseason from the giants which was 4 years 41 million with half of it guaranteed. shep is at best a medicore WR2. anderson is better but the stats aren't there due to poor QB play. I think it's a fair deal. he may get a little more maybe 4 years 44 million. I'm good with that and I think robby would be too. because cousins is dropping dimes and robby played with falk for 3 games, sam with mono 1 game, sam with a jacked up toe against the top D 1 game. the only healthy sam game robby played in he caugh a 92 yarder. sams missed robby this yar on at least 5-6 40+ yard TDs due to overthrows and falk can't even throw far enough
I don't subscribe to the idea that trading Anderson will hurt Darnold's development. Anderson is not a QB-friendly wideout anyway. There's a term these analytics nerds use, I think "catch radius", but basically, to complete passes to Anderson a QB needs to make sure it's a perfectly placed pass or Anderson needs to be wide open because his catch radius is so small. Guys like Mike Evans, Julio Jones, Hopkins are incredible at this. But even discount versions of those guys like Josh Gordon, Robert Woods, DeSean Jackson, Fitzgerald, etc.. you can throw them inaccurate passes and they will come down with them. They can come down with completions even when they aren't open. Trading a guy like that will hurt a QB!!! But a guy like Robby Anderson, who needs a perfectly targeted football to catch it - I mean, those guys are a dime a dozen. That Vyncent Smith kid is already on the roster as a speed threat who can do that. Put him in Anderson's spot and honestly, there would be less difference than you think
