Cool, you figured out it would be good to trade Clemens now, thanks. Trouble is, what exactly has he shown that makes him desirable to trade? I guess the fact he can't win the job from a rookie, or the fact that when he's been in games he's done nothing to make people trade for him. As far as your showcasing comment goes, last QB that got 'showcased' was Ratliff and that enabled us to trade up for Sanchez by putting him in the package to Cleveland. So yes, it is possible that he was being showcased as part of something bigger...

I think if we can get a late midrounder for Clemens once some kind of quarterback injury arises, that'd be great. I don't want us wasting our efforts and altering our offense to bring in a guy who is trying to talk his way out of another town while simultaneously screwing his teammates, particularly when Sanchez is trying to get a grasp of things.

This is going to be a running offense. This is going to be a clock control team with an aggressive defense that forces the action. I think we'll be fine with Cotchery, Keller, Stuckey, and Clowney. Bringing in Brandon Marshall at the end of camp to catch 50 balls and then make a scene about his contract next season and/or get arrested. No thank you.

Clemmens is not going any where! There's no way Ryan or Tannenbaum would let a 2nd year QB back up their starting rookie QB. The only way a trade would happen is if the Jets were made an offer they couldn't refuse for example say a 2nd round pick.

Almost impossible to trade a QB midyear because of how long it would take him to learn a new offense.

I have to agree. Next year is a different story, of course, but the starter is a rookie and the backup is supposed to be Ainge?!? I don't see that at all.

Clemens did not go out and make the Jets make him the starter, but he's still more solid as a backup than Ainge. He's gone after this year, but unless they need to put him in the mix for a trade for a solid wideout, he's not going anywhere now. Even on that score I doubt he brings much trade value, at this point.
