We've been putting off really addressing the OL line the last couple of years. Next year's draft that will be the top priority.
That would be foolish and short sighted. Brick is a staple regardless of his age. He's unmovable until someone new is brought in to replace him, and they can confirm that the replacement isn't going to fall flat on his face. LT is extremely important, and we actually have a good one.
This^ We've tried the whole letting offensive lineman go before the replacement is in place. It never works out. See Wayne Hunter and Brian Winters.
I would take a flyer on his. He is being rated as a first next year. So getting him with a 3rd or 4th and a year of professional seasoning is a bargain. It is also a position of extreme need as D'Brick skills are in decline and the line is still a mess.
Gil Brandt is reporting that 25 teams were at his workout today. He measured in at 6'6, 312 pounds. Again, similar to Brick. He ran the 40 in 5.2 seconds, did only 12 reps (due to a "cramp"...yeah...). I don't care about those numbers anyway, I think he's a good prospect with some character concers. But he should be worth a 5th round pick, he's got starting LT potential. Some insiders were reporting that teams probably won't pick him until round 7 because of the weed stuff he's dealt with.
Mac has stated that OL can be addressed in the middle rounds but when it comes to LT, I wouldn't mind taking a shot at a LT blue chipper e.g. Decker (OSU) or Stanley (ND).
