it's more of an anti-Kubiak thing. I thought Kubiak did an awful job w/ a very talented Texans team and to be fair Cable didn't do a bad job in a tough situation in Oakland.

While there is no slam dunk candidates out there of all the names mentioned I would rank them.

    First Choice Jim Mora Jr.
    Kubiak
    Quinn
    Marrone
    Bowles
    Reich
    Last Cable

Reich is third on my list, but also the guy that could prove to be the next Harbaugh. I wouldn't mind the Jets taking a chance on him, at least they would be trying an offensive guy for once.

I wonder if anyone ever thought to call Bill Parcells. They can't take back the HOF induction, so he is free to join in again.

    Quinn
    Bowles
    Mora
    Kubiak
    Reich
    Marrone
    Weeb Ewbank's corpse
    Cable

Reich is intriguing, but probably too raw.

LMAO!!! ..... others I would put ahead of Cable: Rosie O'Donnell, Weird Al Yankovic, the Olsen twins, and Bobcat Goldthwait (remember him?)

Wow, 4 people actually voted for Cable lol .... maybe I should have put Rosie O'Donnell in the poll as a control.

Brian Kelly from ND. Actually, too much is being made of this selection process.

true but then isn't it weird how the coaches that seem to fail/struggle are the ones on teams with no real QB and a poor roster and those that do well and are well regarded are on teams that have a good QB and a good roster? ;)

Cable had a shorter run as a head coach and his best season was 8-8. Kubiak took over a 2-14 expansion team and was able to turn them into a winner. He was head coach for eight years until he lost his job for health reasons and is still has the most wins in Texans history.

While cable has head coaching experience he was never a coordinator. He knows a thing or two about OL but those Raider teams he coached did have talent.

Kubiak was the offensive coordinator for the Broncos for more than a decade before becoming head coach. He was also their QB coach during both Superbowl wins. This year we saw what his Ravens offense did to the Steelers in the first round of the playoffs.

Quality assistant coaches with experience are much more likely to join a team with an established head coach. Otherwise, the only way they are signing up is if they think they can be head coach. There aren't too many guys available to us with the experience Kubiak has.

The Raiders have been an absolute mess and he got that team to .500.

Houston was in year 5 when he took over, the expansion stuff was over with. he should have the most wins in Texans history since he coached there the longest.

Shanahan ran those offenses and neither Shanahan or Kubiak has had much success w/o Elway and TD.

He did a nice job w/ the Ravens O this year no doubt, that doesn't make up for what he failed to do as a HC.

    Why not?

Maybe Kubiak had learned a thing or two from his mistakes.

Perhaps he has learned a lot from his current head coach.

These days it is all about "what hav you done lately?".

Does it matter how bad Pete Carroll messed up the Jets and Patriots now that he got a Superbowl in Seattle?

It's possible but I don't know if I want to take that chance.

Pete Carroll did not mess up the Jets or the Pats. he didn't have a chance here and he did win a div title in NE w/o Tom Brady- something the great Bill Belichick has never done.

I never liked Kubiak as a coordinator in Denver, he's done a good job in Baltimore though. Coaches can change and get better and maybe I'm wrong but I am not a Kubiak guy.

Waiting on Kubiak could really suck, but apparently we are waiting on Quinn also, so I guess it's worth the wait. Kubiak and Quinn are my top 2 now as Marrone appears to be out as well. Bring back the zone blocking scheme!

I'd like to see Bowles, with Trestman as OC.

If not Bowles, my fall backs would be Quinn, then Kubiak.
no way in hell do i want Marrone in here.

Another guy I would put ahead of Tom Cable

This guy would get the most out his players,Manish Metha has spoken to his sources and they say that this guy should be at the top of the Jets list.He impressed Woody Johnson with his ability to make a shelter out of a pair of pants

There's a lot of talk on this board now about Dan Quinn getting the HC job, with Kyle Shanahan leaving the Browns to become his OC. Based on the results of this poll, a lot of Jets fans will be really happy if this ends up happening.....but I was wondering if there are any real substantial reports on this? Like ESPN or NFL.com, for example...
