It’s Zach. He’s our future. He’s our QB. Honestly I think the talk is ridiculous. Do you guys pushing White plan on going to the Super Bowl? Did you happen to notice our defense?? It makes ZERO difference if we go 4-13 or 7-10. Give Zach as many snaps as possible this year, or we start from Square One in 2022. No thank you.
I think at this point if Wilson is healthy you give White the week off with the sore hand, and give Zach a shot at it with MLF upstairs. If Zach totally blows it again then its time to go to school and you play White, maybe even for the entire rest of the season and really see what you have with him. Presumably Wilson won't totally blow it and plan A gets back on track after a few weeks to recalibrate.
Why not give him another go when he's back from injury though? If he continues to struggle then pull him for White but I truly think Zach needed to see these last 2 games to see how effective "boring football" can be in this league when executed properly.
I hate the thought process that you need no competition while developing a young QB. it’s a bad philosophy, and you right that’s exactly what they were doing and got lucky. The Flacco trade just compounds how badly they’ve managed and judged the QB strategy.
I don’t know if that’s the right thing to do against the Bills and Zach probably 50/50 at best with the knee injury. It’s a tough situation honestly
Making decisions soley based on draft stock? That would be a terrible strategy imo. We spent a 1st and 3 2nds on Darnold and Douglas had no problem wasting that capital. You play the better player regardless of draft. It’s quite possible White could be the guy they were looking for, which would be great for the franchise.
Felt like a response to the media the entire time. Don't mind Flacco on the sidelines as a mentor though
When Zach is 100% ready he should start. I think he’s seeing this offense truly work now as both White and even Johnson be solid working this offense down the field. And he doesn’t have to take the big time throws. We know he can make them. But just as important, take the check downs and let your players make the plays. I think LaFleur is finding his footing and the offense is starting to figure out how to move this ball. It’s def trending in a good direction. I want to see Zach execute it. I think if White is good to go, give him another week against a Buffalo and then Miami, let Zach play.
the only thing that matters is seeing some progression with ZW and getting him experience - still think we were crazy for not trading out of the spot with the Niners but that's spilt milk under the bridge
Johnson in his career averaged about 163 yards a game in those he started or played most of the game, he totaled 8 TDs and 14 INTs, last night he totaled 317 yds 3 TDs and 1 INT White has spent most of his time on the practice squad before this season then lights it up last week and it looks like he was on track for more before the injury Jets averaged 272 ypg over the 1st 6 and 498 ypg in the last 2 What is the one common thing that changed between the first 6 and the last 2? I'm thinking the booth has helped his play calling immensely. Edit: Forgot points, 13 ppg in the first 6, 32 ppg over the last 2
No, there is a benefit to sitting and learning. Even Mahomes sat a year behind Alex Smith. The QBs who actually look good in their rookie year starting are few and far between. Sometimes the old ways of doing things are better, but this instant gratification culture of the younger generation has shifted the mentality away from a more proven method. Zach is in over his head right now and anyone who does not see it is blind. That does not mean people have given up on him or do not think he can be the guy. The damage that can come from forcing him into a role that he is not ready for can absolutely destroy a young QBs.
Mike White needs to start vs Buffalo. If he plays well, you keep playing him. The first time the O struggles you switch to ZW. There is no chance I'm starting Zach vs Buffalo next week
