Ha ha. The McKnight pick was apparently a gift from Tannenbaum to Rex, and he picked the guy specifically to please Sanchez. Apparently it pissed Pettine off big time. He thought that it was not a football pick.

Yeah you're right. Total football move. That's what Woody is about.

    1) sell the team
    2) sell his half of Giants Stadium to the Giants, who wanted that shithole in the first place and find another stadium
    3) have the NFL help him relocate the franchise to LA, which the NFL desperately wants anyway
    4) fold the franchise up and let another gazillionaire move a new franchise into NY
    5) leave things as is because Jets fans are hopelessly stupid and will keep this crap going till the lease expires

You blow it up, Idzik has not improved this roster since arriving. He brought youth in some areas but offensively the line is older, the receivers are still no good, the QB is bad.

Jets should bring in a new gm, new head coach, new QB with our draft pick, add WR in free agency, bolster o line through draft and free agency. Right now is the perfect time to blow this up and make it right, once and for all.

No he should not. Idzik is not a personell guy, has had 2 drafts that as of now, neither successful. Idzik has done a good job to set this franchise up to obtain talent but I want a guy that can identify the talent. If you bring the right personnel guy in here, this is a complete goldmine situation. All the bad contracts are gone, the Jets have a chance to position themselves as a force if they make the right moves. So I would can Idzik, yes he got us here, yes he should have a chance, but if you are asking me whats the best situation for this team? its to guy a top personnel guy to get the right players.

And if the Jets somehow went on to win a Super Bowl, I would always credit John Idzik for starting the turn around.........Idzik came in here as a money guy, he has set it up, but now its part two, time to get the players, and I am not sure he can do the best possible job.....

I'm sorry, but I think Rex is one of the finest coaches in the NFL. I know that's an incredibly unpopular opinion, but he's NEVER had a great roster to work with. It's a miracle he's been as successful as he has. I, personally, want him around for years to come.

Idzik should get a chance to bring it all together, but he needs to understand the money needs to be spent. Now, maybe he has a master plan. Maybe, somehow, the money this year carries over in some insane fiscal rule. I don't know. But he needs to spend it. We could have paid Revis $20 million this year and it'd have no effect on our future cap. Spend the money John!

Resign our youth, Draft the best players regardless of position, fill up holes in the roster with quality FA.

    Let Rex get to work.

and how long do you think that job will take to complete given the success rate of Idzik's drafts so far?

We've already seen Rex's work and the results are a major FAIL.

New QB,new Coach, new scouts is the biggest. Whoever scouted the dopes we drafted should be shot. Finally get an offensive minded coach to groom the new QB, this is a QB driven passing league.

We have money. We can fill up holes this FA and continue to keep draft picks.

I don't know how people can continually state everyone around rex sucks and continue blaming everything on him.

I think Rex has to go. He makes too many bone-head mistakes and, IMO, his "defensive genius" has been greatly overstated. Basically he's a one-trick pony: blitz all the time with lock-down corners. If he doesn't have lock-down corners then he doesn't succeed.

Too early to fire Idzik, I don't agree with all his moves and non-moves but a GM's plan can take a few seasons to unfold.

I would say he didn't really succeed the last two years, at least in the passing game. Stopping the run is great but this is a QB and passing driven league. We've seen a very obvious decline since Revis got hurt/left which is fair enough: he was our best player. But people who call him a "defensive genius" are overstating that dramatically. A "genius" wouldn't have something that resembles the worst passing defense in the league despite having multiple high draft picks in the secondary and a pretty good DLine.

As for Baltimore: I don't follow Baltimore so I can't tell you. They had a pretty solid roster so maybe he was just riding the LB position instead of CB.

Plus, that's only half of his job as the offense has been evidentally woeful for years now.

I'm not a Rex hater, I appreciate what he's done for this team, but I think it's time to move on and bring someone else in with a fresh perspective. Hopefully someone who has some basic concept of offense, can manage the clock and doesn't universally blitz on third down.

we are 20th in pass D, not good but not the worst and considering our CB situation it's not too bad.

so basically he has just ridden great players like most successful coaches do? how many win w/ bad players? besides Rex getting that roster to 8 wins last year.

If the Jets fired Rex this year, I'd seriously question what team I root for. It'd pain me, but Woody has been a bumbling fuck since he took over and it's getting old.
