I'm in the middle here. On one end I believe we gave up 1 too many second rounders, but on the other end I'm fine with it because Mac knows who he wants and is ensuring he gets him. At the end of the day it is what it is, we had to outbid Buffalo and their extra first round pick. Give me Rosen please.
Very much in the middle, but chose the second option. If we get a true franchise QB out of this, then it will have been worth it. If not, we've set the franchise back considerably.
Good move The risk is we miss and continue to suck? Who cares since we sick regardless !! Try to get the FQB at all costs, then build it
Yes. A thousand times YES. There were simply too many ways for us to get leapfrogged, Colts @3, Browns with their 2nd pick @4, Broncos @5...if we had stayed put, we might've ended up with the 5th best choice, with multiple teams jumping ahead to take a QB. Now, there's a chance we get the 2nd best, if the Browns or Giants take Barkley. My god...I have to admit my confidence has been shaken a bit this offseason, but now they're serious. It can still go wrong, but they're serious. That's all I ask.' Losing the 2nd rounders hurts a bit, but ffs they don't have much of a track record in the 2nd anyway... EDIT: I just saw Martin's list of our past 2nd rounders. Holy fuck I knew we had a few busts there but that's dire.
You mean if the QB we pick flames out? Well that'll suck obviously, but that's a separate question. There's the decision to move up and go for it, and the decision of WHICH QB to go after. The latter can still go awry, but even if it does, I'll still support the former.
And what gives you confidence that the Jets will select the right guy? Assuming their "right guy" doesn't get picked in the first two picks and they end up selecting Chubb?
They did not make this move to pick D. They did not make this move just to puss out if 2 QBs go 1-2. If, somehow they do, torches and pitchforks, and yes, the decision to move up will be reevaluated. But that's a level of cynicism I simply do not possess.
I just read where some pundit put it this way. The Jets traded two 2nd round picks and Richardson who they never planned on resigning anyway into Kearse and a potential franchise QB and if yoy don't like that you are out of your mind... and he's right.
Your opinions are based on what other people are saying. This time of the year these so called experts pick apart every player. There are a handful of people that really know about each player based on THERE research and they are gm’s. Everyone else just repeats what they think or hear. The jets wont be a serous consistent contender till we solve the qb issue. I don’t care what we gave up. We have to get a franchise qb and picking at 6 the chances were slim at best. Now we have a chance to finally do so. Now it’s up to our gm to execute and that’s a whole another issue. We finally made a smart aggressive move.
I support this move 100% and now look forward to the eventual "Todd Bowles should be starting RookieQB should be starting over Josh McCown" arguments.
