How much grizzle is required to turn this around?

And grizzled veteran coaches aren't going to openly state that it's a bad career move to jump feet-first into a dumpster fire. They just won't interview for the opportunity.

I don't know how the HC doesn't get fired after getting absolutely blown out by the fins and pats. I don't know what Bowles can do to turn it around.

Let Mac pick his guy. We have been seeing Woody and outside consultants pick for years and maybe someone who knows football and has skin in the game can do better.

If Bowles is fired, I bet Scott Linehan will be on Mike Maccagnan's short list of coaches he'll interview for his pick for the next Jets head coach.

Watching a young, inexperienced team with a new coach learn how to win is one thing.

Watching your team put in zero effort on route to getting blown out for a third of the season is completely different.

He needs to go, along with all of the dead weight vets on the roster.

Hire a President of Football Operations. Start a youth movement with a new coach and a new system. Actually give them time to build a team and expect results by year 3.

I think with the tough schedule in the first six weeks compounded with all the injuries this team suffered, a 4-11 record should not be surprising to anyone. What is surprising, even shocking, was watching how uncompetitive this team was for so much of the season. Add to that all the problems cited above.

I think we would be a lot more patient with Bowles if this team stayed competitive, but we've been watching a completely sunken ship. Even the Browns (The BROWNS) showed us up by staying competitive this late in the season and grabbing their first win.

Even with Rexy now fired, I still doubt this team can come within two scores of the Bills on Sunday.

Unfortunately, I feel Bowles has run his course here. It was way too fast, and I feel terribly saying that about a good man. We just simply need new leadership on the sideline.

No, I didn't say he for sure is unwilling to open his wallet for an expensive HC.

I suggested that if he does want one he is going to have to do so. He has gone cheap with every single coaching hire he has made, does that mean he will always do so? idk, i am not sure, I hope not, but my comments were in rebuttal to Abyzmul's claim that no one would want to come here. If Woody writes a fat check they would. if, if, if.... something he's never done.

the only thing that can save these coaches is starting Hack, and having him surprising the shit out of everyone by playing well.

otherwise, they've lost this team big time, and early in the season.
there's no coming back from that.

I just haven't seen any positives at all, any upside to these coaches. Way too conservative, they don't have the players buying in, terrible defense, and no game strategy/adjustments.
This is the worse I've ever seen a Jets team perform with this level of talent.
    inexcusable, and flat out embarrassing.

Any coach with a 4-10 record that kicks a field goal down 41-0 should have been fired on the spot and not after the season is over. It's no wonder nobody gives a shit. I swear he is trying to get fired so he can get paid while he sits on his porch sucking down a beer and getting fatter.

I said it after 2011 when Rex lost the team, and it wouldn't be fair if I didn't say it now: the team quit on the guy. They are far too talented to be getting smoked as bad as they are, and having players literally walk into the endzone from a couple of yards out almost every week. At the point where a coach loses his players this badly, it's time for him to go.

Bowles will not be fired. Bank on it. He gets EJ Manuel to end his season though. If he gets blown out by him: Maybe he will.

I expect a Jets W though. If so, that would put him at (15-17). Slightly worse than Rex's (15-16), but I think he keeps his job.

Draft position wise, I don't think the Jets can drop from the 6 spot with a win. Maybe to 7 at worst.

They came in together then they go out together. Mac doesn't get a pass either nor should he.

Mac doesn't get a pass, but he took over a talent empty team in 2014. Made some moves and got them to (10-6) in 2015. Now in 2016 the vets he signed are folding and the young guys take time to grow. He definitely is safe. Crazy to blame him.

Normally I agree with you but given the weird power structure within Jets organization, and because many people think Macc has done a better job than Bowles in their respective positions, I would argue that both don't need be fired at the same time. I would argue that Macc should actually get a chance to hire his own HC, and should gain more power in the power structure. This whole thing turned to shit from the beginning when Woody thought it was a good idea to have both Bowles and Macc answer to him and not Bowles answering to Macc and Macc answering to Woody.

You could say that Bowles played a big part in getting them 10-6 in 2015 also. It works both ways. Sure it takes the young guys time to grow but both 2nd rounders he's taken are highly questionable not to mention passing on some better prospects that could've provided immediate help.

Not blaming him totally nor am I blaming Bowles completely. I don't think either is fired.

Fair enough although Mac's made some questionable picks in the early part of his two drafts. I want to see him land "sure things" or as close as possible in the first 3 rounds especially with these premium early picks. No more projects ie Hack.

That's true. Hack was a reach at that pick, and Devin Smith looks like a bust. I'm not giving up hope on Smith just yet but the more I see of him the less I believe he's going to amount to anything. Macc needs to do a better job of nailing rounds 1-4....Get starters and impact players in those rounds and you're solid. He also needs to be better at contract negotiations as plenty of players last offseason were able to wait the contract stalemates out till late and received the money they wanted. We are going to have 40+ million in cap space so he needs to make sure to acquire players who fit the scheme, both physically and mentally, and not get fleeced in doing so.
