The argument between me and junc is which is harder, leading your team on a TD drive in the Super Bowl or recovering an onside kick. You can pin this lose on Manning, though not on Manning alone. I never said Peyton is without blame.
That wasn't the argument. The argument was that particular onside kick vs. that particular drive manning was leading prior to the pick. This wasn't a standard late game OS kick where the opponent was ready and waiting and considering peyton and his high powered O had scored only 7 pts since the 1st qtr I would say the odds were pretty high that they could score a TD on that drive.
Well, if his special team unit played well, Manning would have never thrown that pick. Its common sense.
You two have at least two pages worth of comments that simply repeat the same point over and over again. I think it is time to call it a draw or take it to the TT forum.
by that rationalization, no single player can ever be blamed for a game because every loss depends on some other aspect of the team not playing 100% perfect. sorry, that doesn't fly. I guess Scott Norwood didn't lose the Super Bowl for the Bills just because he missed the FG at the end because it wasn't his fault the kick was needed in the first place. conversely, Vinatierri never won a Super Bowl because had his team not scored numerous other points in the course of the game his FG would have been irrelevant at the end. see how ridiculous that is? I hope you do, for your sake.
