I'm sick of throwing all of our high picks at the CB position I agree. I think if the Jets want to get talent somewhere on defense, it needs to be the linebacker positions and the Free Safety position. Go veteran for the CBs.
I never said we were set at CB, we do have young talent at the position though. Giving up on McDougle after an injury plagued rookie season is typical Jets fan nonsense. The kid has talent and showed promise in training camp. Whether or not he stays healthy and fulfills that talent remains to be seen. Same goes for Milner, Williams also showed promise last year. The CB position needs to be solidified with vets, not more young talent.
Agree with the posts to address CB in free agency. Still a steep learning curve from college to pros so drafting a CB in the top 10 would be a gamble. Also, reading that there's no timetable for Milliner's return doesn't bode well for using a high pick on CB.
The corner that I like the most that the JETS should look at with their third round pick is Josh Shaw from USC. I like his technique and he had solid numbers from the combine. Waynes was quick but he is still on the small side weighing in at 186 pounds and for the JETS to take a corner again in the top 10 is head-scratching.
Trae Waynes is the real deal but at 6 there are better football players. Some are in position of need. If Mariota is there or Cooper/White or Gregory those players are better IMO and a bigger need. We have 2 young corners that both are looking to prove they got it plus the CB FA list is looking good with Revis, Maxwell, Cromartie and maybe Carr.
I don't think we should draft a CB early, because it would make our secondary too young and inexperienced. We need to sign at least one veteran CB, and probably 2. Then see what we have, if anything, in Milliner and McDougle. Our secondary could become the deepest part of the team if those two come on.
No corner worth the $$ or the pick. corners are a joke. look at NE. yeah they pick'em..then they cut them loose...$$$$vs. reward.
Sign me up for him. I've seen one mock having us take him at 6. Now with the WR position addressed with Marshall and depending which CB we get in free agency (Mevis, Cro, Maxwell or Culliver). Makes sense because Bowles will be bringing the blitz.
What position on the team last year was as horrible as the cornerback position. They gave up huge chunks of real estate every game and almost every time a pass was thrown.
At least one CB has to be added via free agency and I wouldn't be surprised if it was two. That's a start, but even with a FA addition, I would expect a relatively high draft pick at corner too. Is Trae Waynes really that much better than one of the guys who could be there at the top of the 2nd such as Kevin Johnson, Jalen Collins or Marcus Peters?
Every team has injuries but the players the Jets plugged in at CB couldn't get the job done either. So you are making my point for another CB picked high. The one that got injured didn't show alot of promise when he was healthy. Milliner was benched 3 times by Rex. Now McDougle I hope he gets a long look this year and hopefully contribute on nickel and dime packages.
