We're worse than the 2 win version. We caught the break of playing the Titans without both of their starting WR's and their center went down early leaving the OL in a funk. The Bengals game is one of the weirdest ever with a backup QB putting up great numbers for a game.
You are what your record says you are. Last year we caught a break and played a Browns team without its top receivers.
No, you really aren't what your record says you are when you are headed for a record for points allowed in a season. The crazy thing is we gave JFM a huge extension after the Titan's game. As if JD couldn't understand the context in that game.
Some fans. Me, I just watch a lot less football than I otherwise would. I think the effect of really bad teams on overall viewership is greater than most people realize. I put the Lions, Jets and Jaguars into the category of interest-leeching teams at the moment. It's cyclical but on a very slow pace. The Browns and Cardinals were in the category until recently. The Seahawks and Buccaneers at one point also. We think of the NFL as driven by the TV contracts - which make all owners a lot of money. However the really bad teams are just leeches on that shared revenue pile and actually depress it substantially in the process. The NFL parity policy has had questionable effects in terms of suppressing the top of the field however it has done jack squat for the really bad teams because you cannot promote parity when management ineptitude is the problem.
You can usually tell when a team is ready to emerge. Like the Chargers last year, they were 3-9 at the same point our Jets were, this year. But they lost a ton of close games and were giving better teams all they could handle on the road. Now they are playoff contenders, it's not a surprise. These Jets aren't near that. Like byz said, they look as bad as they've ever looked during the drought. -Road games haven't even been close. -Getting blown out by backup QBs & rookies. That doesn't happen to a team that is ready to compete. I'm sorry but this team has been unusually lucky getting to face so many shit QBs this season and STILL only 3-10. Lets keep it real, they are getting worked by the likes of Taysom Hill & Minshew at home, not exactly facing Rodgers & Mahomes on the road there Long, long way to go
next year's likely road games (outside of the division) at cleveland at green bay at minnesota at pittsburgh at Raiders at seattle

I think it's possible. We've seen teams go from worst to first almost every year in the NFL. Next year, much like the following year, will all depend on how much of a leap Zach takes. If he's average to good, I think we have a legit chance at the playoffs in 22.
2 wins at home. None on the road. Another year without any shot. Season over by Columbus Day. Saleh and staff awarded 5yr extensions.
Well, they could have a real turnaround guy running the show. Somebody with a proven ability to lift programs out of the mire and turn them into Championship material. They just have to want that. However the last guy we got with those credentials missed the playoffs by a game at 9-7. Pretty good chance that is what happens with the turnaround guy also. *ponders* So 2-15/3-14 or turnaround guy to 9-8? I know which one of those options would sellout the season tickets for 2023 and which one would make them $5 tickets by the end of October.
No. For the simple reason that while the Jets can improve next year, and I believe they will, I don't think they can improve enough to overtake any of our Division opponents and I think that holds for the near future as well. Looks like NE is on its way to dominating the Division again, Buffalo will be tough as long as they have Allen at QB, Miami after a tough start, is back to playing solid football with good coaching and should continue to get better.
Two wins is being pretty generous with that schedule. We very well could be the first team to complete an 0-17 season based on that list of opponents. Detroit will probably be as bad as us, but they'll definitely play as though they want the win more than the Jets will, unless things change drastically around this team.
I have a great tailgate group however, the actual game experience is awful. The Jets organization during my fandom consistently failed to field a winning team. I understand that a winning team is not important when you are part of the NFL franchise. The money flows over the transom through revenue sharing. All the Jets do with that money is ramp up their marketing, UK initiatives, etc. My yearly $2,700.00 outlay for tickets will be better spent on fishing charters. I expect it will be an odious event when I must peel the green and white skin off my soul…or maybe not.
Why spend such a ridiculous amount of money on this damaged product? Recently noticed on a sports news site tickets in Buffalo for Sunday which are selling for as low as $9. Not surprising, interest in the NFL is nowhere near what it used to be. Hardly surprising considering how much the league has been degrading the product for several decades now.
The Jets don't hire turnaround guys anymore. The Jets only hire newbies who take years to learn the job on Woody's dime. They come cheap and desperate for a HC job so there's really no downside to hiring them. Pair that with a budget Roster and you get what we have now.. A franchise headed nowhere, a fanbase that really doesn't care much anymore playing in a stadium populated mostly by corporate and road team fans and looks a lot like an open air conditioner.
