Lemme get this all clear. If Cincinatti is the 5th seed by themselves...And the Jets and Jags both finish 9-7, alone in 6th, Jacksonville would be in via the 41-0 win right? And if the Jets,Bengals, and Jaguars are tied at lets say 9-7, then the Jets would be in right?
The way I see it, the Bengals would get the 5 seed due to a better conference record than both teams, and then the Jags would be the 6th seed based on their win over us.
Wrong. The 5th place tie is broken, going to CIN because of conference record, then you play for 6th... JAX. If we're all tied for 6th, then CIN gets it. (CIN would have 5 conference losses, we'd have 6 at 9-7, so would JAX). At 10-6 each, CIN gets in first due to conf record.
Den is taking care of business right now. If they go on to win, is it better to root for KC to win tonight? That way they eliminate Denver, and KC is also out of the picture with their pathetic AFC record?
http://www.sportsline.com/columns/weblogs/entry/9847051 We knocked out the Dolphins with the win.:finssuck: More Week 15 notes... On Eliminations... MIAMI is the only team eliminated so far during week 15. Their loss and the Jets win means its "wait til next year" time for Coach Nick Saban and the Dolphins fans. St. Louis could be eliminated if they lose at Oakland and the Giants win against the Eagles. There's also a situation where the Rams are eliminated with a loss and either Green Bay or NY Giants clinch Strength of Victory over the Rams. Early Week 16 Scenarios... New England will clinch the AFC East title with EITHER a win or tie at Jacksonville OR a Jets loss or tie at Miami. If Philly beats the NY Giants today, Dallas can clinch the NFC East title with a win against Philly next week. If the NY Giants beat Philly today, Dallas would need a win and a Giants loss or tie against New Orleans to clinch the NFC East title. Seattle can clinch the NFC West with EITHER a win or tie against San Diego OR a San Francisco loss or tie against Arizona. More to come after 4pm games...

Jets win AFC East if: Jets win twice Patriots lose twice That is not very likely. The four division winners should be New England, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and San Diego (two have clinched already). How do the Jets qualify as a wild card team? Below are the most likely ways. (Right now I am not interested in seeding. I just want the Jets in the playoffs. We can talk about the 5 or 6 seed after next week.) Currently, the Bengals are 8-5. The Jets, Jaguars, and Broncos are all 8-6. To heck with the Bills, Titans, Steelers, and Chiefs. Don't worry about them. They all have 7 losses and the following scenarios are based on the Jets being 10-6. The 7 loss teams could not catch the Jets. 2 wins 1 Denver loss 1 Jacksonville loss OR 2 wins 2 Cincinnati losses 1 Jacksonville loss OR 2 wins Cincinnati loses to Indianapolis and Pittsburgh Cincinnati beats Denver Under that first scenario, Denver's loss could be to either Cincinnati or San Francisco. You would think Denver would not lose at home to the 49ers. Most likely, Denver's loss will have to be to Cincinnati. Two of the three most likely scenarios for the Jets to qualify for the postseason hinge on the Bengals beating the Broncos on December 24. However, under the middle scenario, the Bengals can lose to the Broncos. The first one seems most reasonable. Bengals beat Broncos, Patriots or Chiefs beat Jaguars, Jets win two games.
teams to root for There's been a lot of discussion on this board as to who to root for and what games matter, and all of the different playoff scenarios. In my opinion all I'd like is for the Jets to control their own destiny going into the last week against Oakland. Here are the games that matter for that to happen. It's really VERY SIMPLE. Colts beat Bengals tomorrow night... Pats beat Jaguars next week... Jets beat Miami Christmas night All three of those things happen, and we CONTROL our own destiny for the final wild card spot against Oakland regardless of anything else that happens. Bengals and Denver play eachother next week so that game isn't all that important if the Colts can snap out of it and win tomorrow night. BOTTOM LINE....root for Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and Jets control their own destiny, how ironic
Jets are in the playoffs if they win their final two games and: 1) Patriots lose 2 games 2) Jaguars lose 1 game and Bengals lose 2 games 3) Jaguars lose 1 game and Broncos lose 1 game 4) Bengals lose 2 games and Broncos lose 1 game There is no other way to qualify.
I wouldn't worry too much about the Monday Night game. The Bengals can win out and be 11-5 and the Jets can still make the playoffs. The Bengals winning out would mean the Broncos would have 7 losses. That, along with a Jaguars loss and two Jets wins and the Jets will be in the playoffs. Quite frankly, I believe the Bengals are going to beat the Colts. Wish list: Bengals beat Broncos on 12/24 Jets beat Dolphins on 12/25 Jets beat Raiders on 12/31 Jaguars lose to either the Patriots or Chiefs (I don't think winning the AFC East is likely. The Patriots should beat on the Titans in Week 17.)
#3 is looking pretty good. Jaguars should lose to the Patriots next week and the Broncos should lose to the Bengals too. just Pray that the Jets win out.
Yeah, that's what I've been saying. The Jets can regain control of their own destiny before they play their next game if the Bengals and Patriots win on Sunday.
