Two different teams, two different halves, they folded like a house of cards

would be awesome if this Jets team wins out and bounces a Bronco team that started 7-0 and beat the 10-0 NEPs out of the playoffs.

couldn't happen to a bigger deuce bag than in Elway. has a team ever missed the playoffs after starting 7-0?

Yeah but they go to the playoffs every year so that was relatively painless. We haven't gone for a while and our schedule is harder next year. My guess is that we might not get back until the 2017 season. Fun times.

Its gonna be the most Jetsian thing if we miss the playoffs at 11-5 and honestly, I will be too pissed off to watch the playoffs. I will probably not pay attention until September, maybe watch the draft.

Anyone have thoughts about Baltimore and their home season finale versus Pitt?

They had three turnovers and seven penalties losing to KC

Clausen looked fairly solid...maybe they play their SB and beat Steelers

its completely impossible that the referees were paid off. a ridiculous assertion. I read that on this board once.

So, I guess the referees just really ,really suck at doing the most important part of their jobs which is to remain impartial. but they won't be reprimanded for sucking at their jobs... but there is nothing improper going on

Who was the last Jets rookie head coach to miss the playoffs?

The possibility exists that the Jets could go 11-5 but if the Steelers and Chiefs win out the Jets would not make the playoffs. However, there is actually one other possibility. If the Jets win our and the Chiefs and Steelers win out but DENVER loses a game(and they play the Bengals next week) then the Jets are in because the Chiefs would then win the division and the Jets would have a better conference record than Denver. I think many people have gotten it into their heads that the Broncos have already won that division...they have not...in fact they could be the odd team out of the whole thing.

If the Jets get the 6th seed and the Chiefs get the 3rd seed...New York vs Kansas City....shades of the World Series with hopefully a different result. <--- Just think that's a cool possibility. lol

The hardest part of the equation is beating New England who will come in motivated, angry, and Belichick conditions them to hate the Jets and want to wreck our season. They will pull out all the stops.

I still think Pitt or KC or Denver will lose at least once here. I don't know where but...I think it'll happen

And yes the refs take major blame for dragging Pitt back into that game but Denver totally wilted too. A bigtime secondary like Denvers has to do better.

I recall SD was like 8-2 or 7-1 back in the late 80's and lost out.

How about the media gets to question the head ref after the game??? This way there is pressure on those guys to make the right call since they will now be accountable in the public eye, instead of meing under the umbrella of "ref" where the blame is generalized?

The ref union would probably never allow it though

we were discussing this in the playoff picture thread, I honestly feel like this is the most likely scenario for us to make it in. KC and Pitt are so hot right now

The PI calls have to stop league wide. It's like an automatic "get back in the game" strategy. Down 17+? Just throw it up for an easy 50 yard penalty and you're in the red zone.

the Philly Eagles in 1994 with the great Richie Kotite started 7-2 only to finish 7-9. they lost on the last game of the season to the 2-13 Cincy Bengals with a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter to seal the collapse...

Leon Hess rewarded the great Richie Kotite though for that performance by giving him another HC job

Or a phantom holding call that negates a huge run play by the team the Refs want to lose.
