That's correct. If both the Jets and Steelers were to lose this week and then both (along with Chiefs) win the last 2 Jets would be in Steelers would be out. Need to win all 3 but there's no question the AFC games are MUST wins.
So then the Dallas game is not really a must win beating the Pats and Bills is. Of course winning out gives us a few more avenues.
So oddly it's a more successful weekend if we lose and Pittsburgh loses than if we both win. A Steelers loss puts us in control of our own destiny no matter what we do. So, it's not like we're bigger Broncos fans than Jets fans this week, but go fucking Broncos.
while losing to dallas won't kill us its still important that we win because you never know about Denver with a backup QB and Cinci with a backup QB losing to Dallas eliminates all chances of finishing ahead of them. Also, it continues to put pressure on Pittsburgh and KC not to slip up even once. I would categorize the Jets winning more important than a pittsburgh loss, and more important than you guys are making it seem although you acknowledge Jets win is important
Completely disagree I would trade a Jets lose for a Pitt lose in a second. It puts us in control of our own destiny and we need to win the last 2 regardless. Plus Denver is our best shot at someone beating Pitt so that game is far more important.
I don't know if I trust Brock to go into PIT and knock off Ben, but if anyone can stop the freak show that is the Antonio/Martavis combo it's Harris and Talib paired with that pass rush. And not sure the Steelers have an answer for DT and Sanders. Going to be very, very fun to watch. Go Broncos.
I can say this...watching the Steelers and Chiefs games on Sunday will be just as exciting/emotional as watching the Jets on Saturday night. Beat the Cowboys. Something will break our way on Sunday.
This week is a must-win of course, but my true worry comes the next 2 weeks. The Patriots will want the #1 seed AND would love to keep the Jets out of the playoffs. The Bills have had a complete failure of a season, so Rex would love nothing more than to keep his former team out of the playoffs. If the Jets are going to somehow make it in the playoffs, they will completely earn it.
I was looking at Pitt and KC's remaining schedule and they both play bad teams for the rest of the way. We have the hardest remaining schedule which sucks for us. KC has Baltimore, Cleveland and oakland. Pitt has Denver, Baltimore and Cleveland. I hope that Baltimore and Cleveland start playing well bc we need them to win some games for us. Let's hope things work out for us but the chips are definitely not stacked in our favor. We are definitely a playoff caliber team even if we don't make the playoffs
Out of curiosity, anyone know what they're saying about us/our remaining schedule on KC & Pitt forums?
Some KC optimists are talking about a potential division win although they realise their loss to the Bronco's earlier in the season when they were up by a couple of scores probably precludes that possibility. Most seem to hope they'll win the next 2 and have a WC slot locked up into week 17 as they respect the Raiders and they expect us to lose to the Pats or if we're still alive they know that Rex will be playing his version of the SB against us. Pittsburgh also are talking of the Division title now that the Bungles have AJ instead of the ginger one but again they curse their earlier late TD loss to them. Again they reckon that if they might have a WC sewn up if they go 2-0 as the Pats will beat us + the Rexbowl thing. So they (like a number of other fans) reckon that the Pats will eliminate us unless the Bronco's somehow top the Steelers this week.
Barring a complete meltdown Saturday night Pats game is shaping up to be biggest game in 5 years Brock Ostweiler needs some superhuman boost to bump Pit...our best chance is here KC ? can they somehow lose?
Away to the Ravens and if they play like they did last week.............maybe! Just have to remember that the Chiefs D will be facing down a damaged Schaub, Jimmy Clausen or a recent acquire in Mallet. Then that same Ravens team gets to host the Steelers the following week Our best hope of a Steelers loss would seem to be this Sunday, for the Chiefs it would be the visit by the Raiders in Week 17 (for which we have to beat the Pats to still be alive) other then that we're hoping for a Johnny Manziel miracle!
http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NFL/AFC/AFCEast/NYJets.html Jets winning all 3 remaining games gets their odds to make the playoffs to 94% If the Jets go 2-1 during the stretch, that percentage goes down to 48% Sheesh, these games are huge.
