what i'm saying is some guys might appear better than they actually are, but it will be largely due to Revis, Mo and Rich... they are the keys to the D. Pryor is terrible at keeping the play in front of him. bad angles, and he is always looking to run up. however, now his role may be to play downhill, almost like another LB. he should be able to do that if he's worth anything at all. hopefully Bowles utilizes Gilchrist similar to how the Patriots used McCourty last year. protect the deep part of one half the field, let nothing behind you. won't lead to splashy stats, but will be a very important piece to the D. i don't believe either S is anything special, but both are in a good position to succeed due to the personnel around them (which was my point)..
Can hope and pray for Petty to pull a Russell Wilson.... But I think it could be Marshall or Lenny Williams.
Considering who's in front of him, and that he's not expected to be rushed in, if Big Cat manages to burst onto the scene it sure would be impressive anyway. As good as those guys are in front of him....if that happened....whoa watch out!
I can't give Surprise Player of the Year to anyone on offense, even though I gave consideration to Ivory. On defense it's hard to find anyone since they are all expected to tear it up. I think Marcus Gilchrist will be the guy. Where is the opposing QB going to throw thw ball? You don't want to throw at Revis, and Cromartie is not only still good, but his height and speed makes him a difficult defender. Now with Skrine a big improvement at N-CBs, and you have the fast physical Pryor at FS. There is no where to throw, so I think teams will throw at Gilchrist the most by a large margin. To get INTs they must throw your way and thus he should lead the team in INTs this year.
Surprise of the Year: Rontez Miles (YEA, I said it.) Disappointment of the Year: Sheldon Richardson (Won't be the same when he returns) Most Improved Jets POY: Oday Aboushi Jets Rookie POY: Leonard Williams Kyle Wilson Impersonator: Marcus Gilchrist Up and Down POY: Calvin Pryor Most Impressive Play: Brandon Marshall Butt Fumble of the Year: Jeff Cumberland Under-rated POY: Jeremy Kerley Yep. And all of these predictions will be correct.
Offense: Geno Smith (i would've went with Jeremy Kerley but that's not much of a surprise and you guys think Geno can't even be decent so here your surprise YEAR OF THE GENO) Defense: Lorenzo Mauldin -- non-stop motor.. can run stuff and pass rush.. and is also a vocal leader.. we'll forget all about Calvin Pace
I think Kerley is gonna have a good year too. Marshall and Decker gonna attract a lot of safeties away from JK. I like Mauldin a lot but I think he will thrive in run defense. That's either good or bad depending on how you look at it, because many people thought he was drafted as an edge rusher. While I think he has some potential on the edge, I think he will be most useful as a tackler.
