As I noted early in yesterday's game, Endy has actually been hitting very poorly for about three weeks (.180 average, .226 OBP and .240 SLG in the three weeks before yesterday's game). Losing him doesn't necessarily hurt directly (other than in the field) when he's hitting like that, but the hope was that he'd break out of it to at least be competent at bat. We can certainly hope that whoever replaces him will at least do better than he's been doing for a while.
06:16 PM - News: Endy on DL, Valentin Back ...posted by Matthew Cerrone... The Mets have put OF Endy Chavez on the 15–day disabled list with a hamstring injury suffered during last night’s game. …the buzz from shea, though, is that this is much more than a 15–day injury…more like many, many weeks, not days… Meanwhile, 2B Jose Valentin has been activated for tonight’s game, after having been sidelined since late-April with a partially torn ACL in his right knee.
It is too bad Milledge has been injured, he would have gotten the chance to play everyday with the amount of injuries in the OF.
Another clutch performance by this Mets offense... Jeez, it seems like we have to homer to score nowadays....
Very dead in here tonight. Well, I'm out, too. I have had a cold the last two days and I'm going to look into this sleeping thing.
Give them the business. They (and maybe I did a tad, too- I can't recall) got on Yankees fans for their series thread being dead on Saturday.
I've been at a reception honoring my daughter for earning a Scholar-Athlete Award, and just got back home, so get off my back! And, BTW, I never said a word about the activity of the Yankee thread last week.
Hell, I don't care at all. I hope the Mets win 2-1 today because I bet on the Mets and the under in the game, and the Yanks had a late start. The Yanks thread is dead today so far, too, and I'm leaving in a few, so it would be even more dead.
