I have to side with the asshole Bills fan here. Even if he hadn't OD'ed, he was still doing his best to F up the lives of 3 innocent kids he was 50% responsible for raising and putting ahead of himself. You take on that responsibility, you give up the right to indulge yourself to the point of self destruction.

Anybody whom has seen people put addiction ahead of family, and the destroyed lives left behind ought to feel the anger. He had no right to do this to the people that most loved him and needed him. No sympathy for him. None.

really upsetting... one of my favorite actors.... I live close to the apt he OD'd in... and I saw him often with his kids or riding his bike, always seemed like a normal guy.

Lot of non-fat actors have overdosed. Remember Heath Ledger? Trevor Goddard, James Hayden,
Then you have women. Marilyn Monroe. Judy Garland.

NYPD is awake after this death. Already have 4 suspects and probably more to come. More celebrities should OD in the city...

I'm not singling you out Hiker, but I want to point out that this is a common misconception.

I was at a "meeting" once, and I heard a guy say, "Telling someone not to be an addict, is like telling someone with diarrhea not to shit".

Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. It is considered a brain disease because drugs change the brain; they change its structure and how it works. These brain changes can be long lasting and can lead to many harmful, often self-destructive, behaviors.

Some people have this disease and sickness. Once they become active, its an actual "insanity" of the mind. The craving and the actual "physical" addiction will be their number one priority. Trying to quit alcohol and opiates cold turkey can kill you.

There's a lot more involved with addiction then simple will power and responsibilities.

Actually, that is all there is to addiction. Addicts prefer to get high over responsibility and family. Whether you want to label that voluntary or involuntary is the issue. You choose one viewpoint, I choose the other. The end result is that his three kids are now fatherless.

I highly doubt that I could persuade you to change your opinion on this.
Maybe what bothers me is the lack of compassion for the addict that struggles. Addiction affects most people, directly or indirectly. Most people aren't able to beat addiction. There is a reason that the success rates of rehabilitation facilities is low, and chronic relapses is high.

I had no idea it was so simple to be a hero in the eyes of the media. All I need to do is load up on heroin and drop dead!

Being a celebrity makes you no less responsible for your family, specifically your children, and responsibility goes a lot further than finances.
