Rivers is damn good and even in the face of superior stats you still claim he's just ordinary. Anyways the question is "is he available." There's a lot of smoke and mirrors coming from the Chargers and Rivers. But if Rivers wants out of San Diego for whatever reason then maybe you could trade for him esp if SD believes they can't re-sign him or maybe in spite of what they are saying don't want to. In that case they will obviously try to jack up his price tag. But if Mac is smart he realizes that his value will be lower because he will be an unrestricted free agent next year although probably they could put a tag on him. That could give Rivers the 20 mil he desires and the Chargers might not want to pay.
he's a damn good fantasy guy. I would love to know how a guy w/ superior talent around him in weaker division that couldn't win is all of a sudden going to come here and outduel Tom Brady? then we'd have to give up picks and pay him franchise QB money.
No one said he's the best Qb in the league. Only that he's a very good starter and a franchise QB. I'd take him over what we have or a rookie. We could win now with him. Who knows maybe a repeat of 2009: a first year HC going deep into the playoffs. But this time with a good Qb and just slightly above average team. The last time a bad Qb and an above average team.
Obviously I'd take him over we have but the cost would hamper us in the long run. Rivers on our '09 team and we may not win a playoff game. the difference in that SD game was at QB. Our QB didn't make the big mistake and SD's did. he's been on talented teams his entire career and has very few p[layoff wins to show for it.
how can you watch football, be a fan, know about both teams in that game and still post something this stupid... over and over
Dont know how badly I'd want to give away the sixth pick, but Rivers would make this team an instant playoff contender. Best QB we've had in years, and could maybe even compete with New England for the division.
I know the game better than you. Rivers played on much more talented teams(including that one in '09) and failed time after time after time in January. Rivers kept us in that game, he was awful. I can't wait until you tell me about the QBs #s that day. this should be fun.
shit like this is why I have you on ignore and only suffer through your horse shit posts on Tapatalk. You're one of the worst posters on this site. Repeatedly telling people who don't buy into your backwards nonsensical logic that they don't know football and that you know better than them hardly makes it true. it just makes you sound like an asshole.
i dont know how you define winning. Rivers record when starting is 88-65 all time, a .611 winning percetnage. only brady, big ben, and manning have a better winning percentage among current players. no his playoff track record isnt as good, but he has also been kind of unlucky. 3 of his 5 playoff losses have come against teams that went to the superbowl. The 18-1 pats team, the steelers championship team, and mannings broncos. They lost by just 3 to a pretty dominant pats team and he threw for 5 touchdowns and 1 pick combined in the other 2 games. And its not like he hasnt had some bigtime playoff performances. He beat peyton manning in indy throwing 3 touchdowns. beat mannigns colts again a couple years later in 2009. 4-5 in the playoffs isnt awful, especially when 3 of your losses are to great/much better teams.
I don't care whether you have me on ignore or not. In understand the game better than most so if you guys can attack me expect some of it back to you and the weaker ones will put me on ignore while the stringer ones will try to battle w/ me so if you have me on ignore don't post with me.
how is the AFC west a weaker division? denver has been just as strong as the pats and KC isnt any worse then buffallo or miami. and he certainly doesnt have superior talent. SD has really gone down hill across the board
winning in big games, playing well in big games, making plays to win in big games. beating KC, Oak and pre-Manning Den doesn't mean a thing to me. unlucky? 2006 NE: 14-2 record in reg season, #1 seed and bye. big favorite over NE, a NE team whose top weapons on O were Reche Caldwel and Jabar Gaffney. Couldn't get it done. 2007: lost to undefeated NE in title game but NE lost the next game. Led O to 12 pts and they reached that title game w/ his backup leading GW TD a week earlier in Indy. 2008: 8-8 and got home game b/c his division stunk. lost to eventual SB champs but Rivers was AWFUL. #s look good but he didn't start putting up #s until the game was out if hand. after trailing 28-10 in 4th threw 2 garbage time TDs before losing 35-24. Pitt won SB but this was not an unbeatable team and certainly not a team they couldn't compete with but yet they couldn't compete. 2009: hottest team in AFC, SB favorites, 1st rd bye against Mark Sanchez and Jets. kept us in it w/ multiple TOs including setting up our 1st TD and lead in 3rd qtr by panicking and throwing brutal INT setting us up inside RZ. 2013: they won hiding Rivers vs. Cincy, at Den when they needed him to step up he failed yet again. 4-5 in the playoffs(3-5 in games he started and finished) isn't awful but it's not good especially w/ the talent he had around him and losing multiple home games.
4 wins isnt all that bad. no he isnt brady or manning.... but it isnt like he is matt ryan or tony romo either getting smashed in the first round. the only active QBs with more wins then rivers are all guys with superbowl rings. unless you win the superbowl, or make a run from the wildcard spot, your playoff record is hard pressed to be above .500. for instance if you are the #2 seed, and dont eat the #1 seed to get to the superbowl you finish 1-1 Peyton manning has a LOSING RECORD in the playoffs (11-13) Jim kelly made 4 superbowls and was just 1 game over .500 (9-8) Dan marino was 8-10 Brees and Aaron Rodgers (both 6-5) are just a game over .500 rivers isnt some playoff bum. he has been up and down. comparing him to playoff scrubs like romo, ryan, vick, etc isnt a fair assessment. Rivers has been outstanding, and a big reason his teams have gotten to the playoffs and he played abig role in those 4 playoff wins
Den has been strong the last few years, he played the majority of his career pre-manning. 8-8 multiple times won that division. he doesn't have top notch talent now but did so the majority of his career.
Peyton is a legendary choker but his teams are in postseason every year. Kelly made 4 SBs, you could stop there. Marino led mediocre teams to numerous playoff berths Brees and Rodgers both have led their O's to high PPG totals, they aren't losing mainly b/c of QB play. Rivers is on the level of a Romo, Ryan, etc...
talk about a biased one sided view. i love how you just completely leave out the game where he went on the road to indy and threw 3 TDs to outplay peyton manning and get a win.
