Imo, this thread can only go south... it's a non issue and doesn't need to be fed... All those in favor? AAAYYYYE!!! Kthxbai...
Rex is my boy because he's the JETS head coach. You are reading way too much into a situation. It's like the silly posters that say "Yes Rex will have less influence on our draft choices now that Idzik is here. I know Rex had influence because we drafted defensive players in the 1st round 3/4 years" When we just drafted a corner and DL with our two 1st round draft picks. Rex wanted to go see his son at probably the only football game he could see him at. He asked Idzik and Woody who both gave him the okay probably since most if not all of the cuts were done by Friday night allowing him to fly out on Saturday morning. There's really nothing else to see
Lol... Sounds like you're the one with the Daddy issues. Take off your Rex cape for a second...and realize a coach taking a day off to party down at a party school at a tailgate during the same time finals cuts come down to guys who's lives are practically on the line...is strange. As reported by Albert Breer who got quotes from both AFC and NFC officials...neither have ever heard of a coach not being present the same day of the deadline. Coaches are always present on final cut down day. Whether the Jets made their decisions Friday is meaningless. The team informs them Saturday.
When did I say that? Im sure Rex gave his opinion. Idzik had final say, obviously. Rex not being around that day was strange. That's all.
Hey good effort for being accurate in what Breer said: Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 3 Sep I'd say it's surprising to hear that a HFC wasn't at his team's facility on cutdown day. Doubt it would've happened with Rex from 2009-12. Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 3 Sep By the way, I am not -- and would not -- criticize Rex for being the best father he can be. Just saying that the circumstance is unusual. Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 3 Sep Just texted a couple guys on a HC missing cutdown day. AFC exec: "That's not normal." NFC exec: "Really weird. I've never heard of that." Albert Breer @AlbertBreer 3 Sep Talking to people arnd the NFL this AM, clear that HC missing cutdown day isn't normal. But some defend Rex, say technology makes it doable. only one exec said he hasn't heard of that, not both. Nobody said coaches are always present as other NFL people said technology makes it doable. Hey the team doesn't also inform them Saturday necessarily, many players knew late friday night even though it's not officially announced Saturday. It's an interesting scenario, but that's about it. It's what happens, like when Mangold went to the Olympics and missed some training camp. It's a unique situation and the timing worked out plus the technology that Rex could go. Family first. He asked for permission from both his bosses and they said yes.
If this were any other coach, this would be a non story. This is inherently irresponsible, tasteless journalism at its finest.
Who cares when the team informs them? Why is that relevant to Rex's physical location at the time? Only completely whiners and peeps who know nothing about football are actually talking about this. Several coaches did the same thing, why don't they all have articles written about them neglecting cut day?? It's hypocrisy. What a joke. The cuts were made BEFORE he went to the game. Just stop. The media (and fake fans) are just looking for things to complain about. Give it a rest. The sky is NOT falling.
