If Rex is gonna coach "through the media" like this, then there's gonna be one of these every other day. Apparently Rex didn't get the memo from Woody that the Jets way was to keep their business "in-house"
someone tell Rex that three interceptions are only fantasy statistics. he needs to try actually watching the games.
Seems a bit overboard, to put it lightly. Damn the NY media really is tough... tracking INTs at OTAs in May? I almost feel bad for Sanchez at this point. He's not going to be able to tie his cleats without it being dissected in the press. I get what Rex is doing, but 2013 should not be a make-or-break year for him. I'd give him this upcoming season due to all the transition, and at least give him 2014 to show whether or not he can get it going again.
It's that goddamn Flipper. One neutered dolphin on happy pills and the whole world thinks dolphins live a Buzz Berkley lifestyle.
2012 was his make or break year and he broke. You can bet anything you want that if Tannenshit hadn't given him that raise which is now making it very expensive to dump him he would already be gone..he may still end up gone before the season starts but it is just harder to do.
Still on Rex? How do people that root for the Jets even consider firing Rex? What would this team have been without him? You dont let his defensive mind go, period. He loses Revis and still has a top ten D. Theres no complete coach out there who wants this job anyway. Hes a great coach, his players respect him. His D is awesome to watch. It takes time to become a complete HC. Maybe he was humbled. I dont know, but without him, our D would blow too and thats scary. Coaches have strong sides and Rex has D. The NY media (paparrazi) asks questions that you dont get elesewhere. They want garbage. Remember when Favre came here? His first practice, we heard about his burps, int's, farts, doesnt know this system etc......HIS FIRST PRACTICE, its happening now..Rex has a main fault and its faith in players who are not producing. His neck is on the line now, if he still does it, then he should go, but as to an alternative??? who? Dont say Cowher, Gruden etc because they dont want it. Rex has given me something to be happy about watching this team which i havent had much of in the 30 yrs ive been a fan. We were relevant, and will be again inmo. Sanchez never was the reason we won, never will be. QB play is the most important factor in wins, I think Rex realizes that now but honestly, TRACKING INT'S in OTA'S???? wtf!
Why are so many people convinced Sanchez will be cut? I can understand thinking he won't be fired but I don't see how he is cut when he could at least be a backup for Geno and the sacrificial lamb if we need to give Geno time. I dont think he is our future but he's still won some games for us and can't be any worse than last year in Sporano's offense. I'd honestly be shocked if we cut him.
Yep, not really any pressure so it makes INTs even more unacceptable. Sanchez knows the aspect of his game he has to improve on and has started where he left off. For me Smith won't win the job so much as Sanchez will lose it
But I thought Rex only said positive things, and blindly defended every player on the team, no matter what? Another Rex myth bites the dust.
That nonsense ended on Thanksgiving. What game was it where he had the "death stare" for Sanchez as he walked off the field?
In a brand new offense, with none of the top receivers playing? OTAs don't mean much. People rip the Jets when Sanchez was coddled. People rip the Jets when they criticize Sanchez. Granted, when Rex's 18 minute press conference is 16 minutes about the quarterbacks, he's going to say something, particularly with turnovers being such a hot button item.
The reason Sanchez looks like a goner to a lot of people is that he looks finished at this point. His play has been on a steadily downward spiral since about midway through 2011. That's a long time now. Throw in the fact that many of his errors appear to be mental errors and it's hard to see him improving enough to maintain his position at this point. He really does look like David Carr about 5 years in only he was never that good to begin with. Take a look at people like Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman and Byron Leftwich. Those guys also got a lot of starts early on, only their teams recognized fairly quickly that they weren't the one and moved on. Sanchez got an extra year basically because he got pulled along by the wave in 2009 and 2010 when the Jets went deep into the playoffs. That extra credit has run out.
Thought so. I've looked for clips of it but came up empty. Ooops...nevermind. Found it....http://youtu.be/y_hYwcpxO0k Another Jet "high-light" that I've tried and tried to forget. Now I realize the defense lost that game for us, and that's why Rex was so upset.
Yes, in a brand new offense. I accept that different QBs will get different scenarios and the results may differ greatly, and from what I know about the OTA it seems out of the three INTs one was unavoidable, (not his fault) but that of his WR, none other than Santonio Holmes, one time SB-MVP. So yeah, I'll rip Sanchez when he deserves it and praise him when he deserves it. He does a lot of good things, but turning the ball over time and time again even in non-pressure situations is unacceptable, especially as MS himself knows what his flaws are. If he can't accept and handle this, then his NFL career is going to be very very short, nothing to do with the Jets, just him.
Wow, Rex looked angrier than I thought. You can totally see the contrast in body language between Sanchez and Rex/rest of team. Sanchez is practically hopping over to Mike Munchak to congratulate him. It's really unbelievable.
Yep. Avoiding Rex when he's angry is one of those "fundamentals" he has down pat. Picking up a low snap?....Not so much.
