So, just making an accusation without any shred of evidence is now accepted as gospel. Please, do better than this non-fleshed out bullshit argument. First of all, the argument was that the Jets WON in spite of Geno. So, you're clearly confused. The Jets lost to NE twice last year, for the same reason that had ZERO to do with Smith: They couldn't fucking get a FG past the LoS. As pointed out in another thread, Smith had better stats in those games than DeflateGate Brady. It's unclear how Geno almost lost the game against Tampa. Maybe you can tell us something that makes sense and has evidence to support it?
Ah, so now we're giving credit to Geno for the his 8 for 19 performance in the big win over New Orleans in 2013? And he "won" us the New England game with his 17 for 33 w/a pick 6? Average NFL QB rating is 91. Geno had exactly two above-average games in 2013 (and one of them was a 91.7 rating).
geno isnt a starting pitcher. he didnt "win" 8 games the team did. he was awful that season. he was bad last season. its a team sport, QB is the most important position but there is more then just that. schedule matters as well
https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/nfl/new-orleans-saints-new-york-jets-20131103020/ also, Geno was a huge reason we lost the 8 games we lost, playing awful in almost all of them. he plays even average and we make the playoffs
Yep WE're giving credit to the team who won the game. And we're acknowledging that geno had moments. I'm sorry, how many seasons had rookie Geno Smith had that we If wishes were horses, everyone'd ride. But, sure, a 6-10 team (the year before) was an "average" QB away from the playoffs without any significant talent upgrades..keep believing that.
an "average" QB would be an enormous upgrade at the most important position on the field. we were 1-2 wins from the playoffs geno's rookie season, i dont see how thats far fetched to think that an average QB isnt worth 1-2 wins replacing one of, if not the worst starter in the league
But you really can't empirically state it. So, it's just one hater's opinion isn't it? The REAL evidence is buttressed in fact: Jets ownership wasn't nearly as bullish on how close the Jets were to being a contending team: Woody fired the HC and the GM. the NEW Jets GM overhauled both the OG and WR positions. the NEW Jets HC has kept Geno AS THE PRESUMPTIVE STARTER the OC RAVES about him, his talents, his potential.
Yes, there is obviously speculation involved, as no one can retell the past with alternate personel. I'm not sure how the OC comments are really all that relevant. usually a new OC isnt going to come in and bash the incumbent starter. further, coaches praising the quarterback doesnt really have a bearing on their play. you can praise your QB and he can play great(i.e. bellicheck praising brady) or you can praise your QB and he can stink (rex praising mark). its all talk no action... speaking of action... that brings me to our GM.... who signed a free agent QB, drafted another quarterback, and attempted to trade up in the draft presumably to draft a quarterback with our first pick. none of those are ringing endorsements of geno smith. lets strip away all the heresay though... Geno Smith was 37th in the NFL (mind you there are only 32 teams) in quarterback rating at 66.5 Worst in the NFL among qualifying starters the average QB rating in 2013 was 87.0. The jets won every game where geno had a QB rating of 87.0 or better (i.e. every time he played average). I do not think it is beyond reason to think that if the jets got average QB play that 1-2 of their losses would become wins.... in a loss to miami where we scored 3 points, geno had a 8.3 QB rating. against the steelers he had a 48.8 qb rating. the first game vs the pats he had a 27.6 QB rating. all of those games were winnable with average qb play, among others.
Relevant to what? The Jets actually pay Chan Gailey for his opinion on the offense and its personnel. NOBODY is paying you for yours. NEXT!!
Not sure how it's an exaggeration, much less an over exaggeration. Oh wait, it doesn't fit with your hate. got it.
Well if you think all I have for Geno is hate and that makes me a Geno hater, I think all you've done is suck Geno's balls so to be fair, you're a Geno ball sucker. Let's be fair now. _
its not hating if numbers back it up. the bottom line is the kid has a lot of work to do. no one here is rooting for him to fail. we would all like him to succeed. it means the jets succeed. and as far as your REAL evidence goes: 1) they were after his rookie year when they brought rex back, then geno shit the bed and here we are. 2)they needed work in those positions no matter who was under center. that has ZERO to do with geno 3)of course he comes in with it as his job to lose. he was the starter last year. thats basically protocol. they did, however, sign and draft other QB's so to say hes safe and its 100% hes starting week one is a reach 4)what coach or OC comes in and says "well my qb sucks so idk what to do". yes hes gonna praise him, and i hope hes right in his assesment, but lets not act like we havent seen guys get heaps of unwarranted praise. our last coach was rex
