This draft might not help this much for 2024, with Legette probably being the only starter, but could give us bookend OTs going forward, our future QB or backup QB, and depth at S. 27. In this draft, I approached it as if JD was going to trade down to acquire a 2nd round pick. The trade down offer from TB was too good to turn down. In exchange for #10, I received #26, #92, #134, and TB 1st round pick in 2025. I could have take Guyton at #26, but I thought I might be able to get Patrick Paul at #57, and Jackson Powers Johnson would be such a great fit in a gap scheme, that he could either play OG or stay at C and Tippman move to OG. As it turns out Paul was gone, at #57, wo I went ahead and took the WR. Then got Amegadjie at #92. I should have taken a QB at either #111 or #134, but forgot until it was too late. Being able to add Johnny Wilson and let him learn from Mike Williams was too good an opportunity to pass up, and I thought Kalen King might improve the depth at CB. Estimé would give the Jets their short-yardage/power back and Barner is an excellent blocker at TE. Finally, with both Morstead and Zeurlein getting long in the tooth, I opted to draft potential replacements. If I could do this exact draft over, I'd take Guyton at #26, and Joe Milton at #111. 26. Jackson Powers-Johnson OC Oregon 57. Xavier Legette WR South Carolina 72. Kiran Amegadjie OT Yale 92. Johnny Wilson WR Florida State 111. Kalen King CB Penn State 134. LOL I've traded down before in these drafts, but most of the time I've opted to get the best OT available. Now that the Jets have Smith and Moses, it's not quite as important that they get the best OT they can, but still important. In fact, on every mock draft I've posted on this page, I traded down.
This draft was on the NFL Mock Draft Database Simulator. I got a crazy trade down from the Vikings. They wanted to draft JJ McCarthy, and they gave me picks #11, #23, #167. Since I had two 1st round picks, I decided to see if I could get the WR first (Bowers was gone) and then get an LT prospect. It worked! I got Thomas and Fautanu, and still got Amegadjie at #72! I could have taken Fashanu or Fuaga at #11, and then could have gotten Leggett at #23, but wanted to see if I could get Thomas. I would take that any day. I added a power RB in Allen, a QB, and OG depth. This site is big on taking BPA, so I only got a B for taking Thomas rather than taking Fashanu or Fuaga, and got a C for Milton. I'll take those grades, as I got the positions and players I wanted, plus got 3 picks in next year's draft. Too bad the Jets couldn't get a haul like that in real life from Minnesota to move up one slot. I almost forgot that Drake Maye was sitting there at #11, I could have taken him! 11 Brian Thomas Jr. WR | LSU B 23 Troy Fautanu OT | Washington A+ 72 Kiran Amegadjie OT | Yale B+ 111 Braelon Allen RB | Wisconsin A 134 Joe Milton QB | Tennessee C 167 Sataoa Laumea IOL | Utah A 2025 Vikings' 3rd round pick 2025 Vikings' 7th round pick 2025 Vikings' 7th round pick
I couldn't believe that Marvin Harrison, Jr. fell to #20 in this draft, so I took him just for fun. If nothing else, this draft would have given us one of the best WR corps in the NFL, but wouldn't have been much help for the OL. 20 Marvin Harrison Jr. WR | Ohio State A+ 72 Kiran Amegadjie OT | Yale A+ 98 Devontez Walker WR | North Carolina B+ 111 Audric Estime RB | Notre Dame C+ 134 Michael Pratt QB | Tulane A
