Peyton Manning is not coming here. This is a ridiculous suggestion that will be forgotten about with a couple wins. Judgment on Sanchez should be reserved until we see what he can do with a good OC. Brees, Rivers, Favre, Pennington all had big years post-Schotty

We should sign Peyton Manning next season

    To be our offensive coordinator.

How about this, in 2013 season we are hosting the Super Bowl. Schotty will be gone, bring in Manning next year. It would be set up perfectly.

With Manning we are instant Super Bowl favorites. We need to win a Super Bowl, and im a Sanchez supporter but if we have the chance to get Peyton for 3 years WE HAVE to do it. He would win us a Super Bowl in one of those 3 years. And if he doesnt, then Rex & Co. will probably be fired but its worth the risk. And imagine Manning throwing to Dustin Keller, Jeremy Kerley, Santonio Holmes....itd be sick.

Manning will be 37 years old in 2013.With his neck I doubt he will have three years left in him at that time.Who knows if he will ever be the same and who knows if he will ever play again for that matter.

Hes taking a year+ off. Im pretty sure he will be ready to play. I understand its his nerves, but this guy had one of the longest streaks of playing games and wont be injured easily.

This was a stupid suggestion when it was first made by the OP, and it hasn't become any less stupid in the two weeks that have since passed.

Yes he will be ready to play but like anyone its gonna take him about half a seson to get his groove back so yeah if there is any chance of a Manning comeback he would be at his best by 2013 I still doubt he would ever be coming to the Jets but never say never in the NFL.

    ....and the congregation says: "AMEN"

NOT going to happen for the following reasons:

    1. There is NO way the Jets can absorb a $20MM+ cap hit. Even if you get rid of Sanchez there is going to be a lot of dead money due to his recent restructures

    2. Even if you managed to squeeze him in, it will effectively put you out of the FA market for the all the additional needs the Jets have to fill

    3. You don't have enough draft picks to give away. How will you fill your MANY other needs if you give that "boatload" of draft picks for Manning

    4. THe Jets would be trading their future for a 36 year old QB who didn't play in 2011, has a congenital neck injury and has only played in ONE offense his entire career.

    5. Why would Manning consent to going to the Jets where he'd have a questionable OL, one viable receiver, a mediocre running game, an aging Defense, and now no draft picks and cap room to improve that situation. Plus, while HE wouldn't have to learn a new offense, everyone else would. The Redskins and Miami are both more logical possibilities.

On the plus side. If you added Manning he could also be the OC

    NO fucking way.

you want to bail on a QB finishing year 3 which we picked in the top 5 in the first round for a guy coming off a season ending neck surgery, marking his third such surgery. all the while giving up 2 first round picks in the process.

this would be the WORST move in the history of the New York Jets and it will absolutely not happen.

Manning would have the good sense to refuse to come here as long as Jets had someone has worthless as Shittenheimer.

I know what you mean. Any QB who throws a pick 6 has a low IQ. Sanchez is the only QB to throw one this year, right? And it never happens to Manning. That pick 6 he threw at the crucial stage of the SB against the Saints was a mirage, right?

This is one of the dumbest threads I have ever read on this site.

Bringing a 37 year old QB to the Jets after two neck surgeries is the cure to all of the Jets ills and will guarantee not one, but multiple SBs for the Jets. Let's ignore that the Jets OL stinks this year, that there is no running game, that Sanchez has no time to throw and is on pace to be sacked twice as often as he was in his first two seasons. Let's ignore that the receivers get no separation and the play calling stinks. Let's ignore that Sanchez rarely gets to throw on first down and most of his passes come on 2nd and 3rd and long which goes a long way toward explaining his completion percentage. Let's ignore how many games the vaunted defense has blown in the last three seasons by not making that key stop at the end of games. Let's also throw out that the Jets and Sanchez knocked Manning and the Colts out of the playoffs last year.

Let's also throw out that signing Manning will make it almost impossible for the Jets to improve any other area of the team.

The only QB that old to win a SB at age 37-38 was Elway in 97 and 98 and he did it behind a great running game, the best OL in football, and a very good defense. I think in one SB win he threw for under 100 yards.

Still think Manning is the panacea???
