Sanchez's ego doesn't even come into the equation. You just can't build a competitive NFL team with that much money tied into the QB position, it's not possible. Plus, I assume that Manning didn't spend all this time rehabbing just to play one or two more seasons -- he's going to stick around for as long as his body lets him, Favre style. If the Jets get Manning, then Sanchez is gone. No question.
Explain how it could work. Manning plays in 2012. Sanchez sits. Does Sanchez restructure his contract? Would he not and just simply leave the team as a free agent? Jeez. The whole thing makes no sense.
THIS. BUT,then again, Peyton might show Mark what Mark did twice.. Get to a big game, and lose. Or he'll show Mark how to lose to the Pats and be Brady's bitch like he has been in Indy. And that was when he was healthy....
Sanchez is one mediocre season away from being history and people are calling Manning a short term option? It's hope vs. hope in this discussion, there is no wrong answer. Except for signing Henne, that's the wrong answer.
Im kinda switchging sides. Im watching Boomer and Carton, I think I want to stick wit Sanchez. Still very unsure tho, we need to get a RT clearly.
If the Jets sign Manning and get rid of Mark the need for a RT diminishes. With Manning he has the fast release, ability to read a D that Mark does not.
Did you see Wayne Hunter this past season? The QB doesn't have the time to say hike and there's a guy in on him. Plus it still doesn't mean Peyton won't get hit. You don't think the Pats won't try to hit him late and injure him more/again?
Are you really comparing Indy's supporting cast to what the Jets already have now? Indy was 100% Manning and that was proven last year. Bring him to what the Jets already have and there is reason to believe the Jets go right to the SB assuming they stay healthy.
Yeah, it's amazing that Sanchez didn't get sacked on every play, let alone completed some passes. Geez, every Qb in the league gets pressured. The Jets ranked 22nd in Qb hits, with first being worst. It's not like Sanchez was working with below average pass protection. Get a clue.
This. I will make bold prediction right now. Peyton Manning will make Wayne Hunter a pro-bowler next year, whereas Sanchez will make him unemployed. The Jets have more talent than every other team that is being discussed. That is undeniable. They have a better defense than every other team being discussed. They have a better coach than every other team being discussed. And they are the closest to being a SB contender. Based on talent, he should be a Jet. Only thing that stops this is Mike T.
There's no way Sanchez stays if we got Manning. The Jets couldn't commit that much money to a backup QB and Sanchez would never go for it. You think there's no market for a 25-year-old QB who has been to two championship games already? He's be gone in one day. Hell, a banged up, old Chad Pennington lasted on the market one day in 2008 and signed as a starter, you don't think Sanchez would start somewhere else? He's not going to restructure and sit here for two years after being the starter and going 30-22 as a starter here while learning the ropes.
I'm admittedly undecided. But where I hedge my bet is, I'd rather see Manning in Green and White than in Miami. Think about it, if Manning is healthy, we're the third best team in our division right now. The Bills are improved to boot. If the Phins end up with Flynn, I see it as a slight upgrade to Henne and puts the Dolphins back into the realm of mediocrity.
Word is that Peyton is favoring the AFC, and wants to stay in the AFC. Probably doesnt want to play in the same Conference as Eli, just so they dont clash in the playoffs. (Plus the AFC is clearly down right now, and the NFC seems to be on the rise now) If the AFC thing is true I gotta sick feeling he might end up on the Dolphins.
Schefter said on TV the other day he thought we could get a first for Sanchez. I don't know how true that is but if we could, it would certainly help ease the pain of losing a young QB who has shown some really positive signs. Sign Manning and trade Sanchez to Seattle for the #12. It would be a tough pill to swallow for me if we got rid of Sanchez at this point.
LTJF, If Schefter said it, it's true. Most likely it'd be a 25-30 range first pick. But in this years draft that could a solid wideout. As far as people talking about Sanchez backing up Manning as a possible scenario, you're lost. No one invests that type of cap space in a backup QB and on top of that the numbers just don't work. The obvious next story that will break is Sanchez is being shopped, if the Jets are serious about Peyton, the only way it gets done is having a deal in place for Sanchez set up.
Yeah, the Jets have to get value for Sanchez on the way out the door if they're going to sign Manning. That's why I think the first sign the Jets are really in the running for Manning will be the inevitable "Jets trying to trade Sanchez" rumors that will accompany that.
