Reasons I could see Manning coming to the Jets.

    -Tom Moore connection
-Opportunity for endorsements would far outweigh the need for any large signing bonus....and it would be an incentive laden contract as per sources
    - Superbowl on the horizon in NYC
    - Grandpa and Grandma could park the Manning family Jet to watch their sons play in one place
-Manning can make the most mediocre receiving core look good so with the addition of an inexpensive FA would would have a pretty good receiving core. Go get the beard! Reunite the flyboys for cheap.
-With the addition of Barron at safety our defense is pretty solid...better than Manning has had around him in the past
-Coaching staff that will allow Peyton to run the offense...Rex concentrates on defense, Sparano on the run game and Peyton on the rest.
-Opportunity to beat Brady 2x per year.
-Add a quality Offensive linemen with FA and get arunning back in the later rounds of the draft
-Ability to tutor Sanchez for the future and if something Happens to Peyton's neck we have Sanchez ready to go
-Ticket sales, merchandise and excitement......the city will be on fire with Manning Mania....headlines etc......
I know some of the things have repeated to death and sound trivial but when I list them together...Peyton to the Jets does not seem like an impossibilty.
I hate to say it but I am kind of hoping it happens......

Isn't getting the Super Bowl victory what it's all about? I've been a Jets fan my whole life and I'm yet to see us win the Big Dance. We need a ring.

manning would love to win the ring with whatever team he goes to just for the glory of it.

but if he goes to a team that's just an inch away then manning won't get all the glory. ppl will always say the team was already 'there' before manning walked in.

now take the jets. twice within the last few years we were a few plays away from the dance, once even beating manning. manning definitely respects the jet's talent. and with the jets finishing 8-8 last season (a fluke) manning will get all the glory if he comes in and wins the ring, especially if it's against his lil bro.

jets gotta be a huge temptation. gotta be.

and if mark sanchez continues to be average then what? what's the difference? lets not act like mark sanchez' play over the last few years is something we cannot find. he has had his moments, and he still may be good, but this is Peyton Manning. One of the best QB's of all time.

I'm taking a chance on him. Have 3 year window to win a SB. draft a QB one of these years and let him learn under peyton. When peyton is done, new QB steps in.

Having a quarterback like Manning would play to the strengths if the defense. Chances are we'd have the lead a lot forcing teams to throw the ball against Revis Cro and Wilson.

I'm indifferent on Manning. If we get him I'd be happy if we don't I'm happy with Sanchez. If he is the Manning of old it'd be huge pickup.

Warner has taken one too many concussions if he thinks this would be anything like him being an obvious seat warmer for 10 games or whatever it was on a bad team.

It is, but can you without a doubt Peyton gets us a ring without having played in a year? The Jets can rebuild the team so it become a better team, or put all the eggs in one basket and hope it works. The chances of us winning the SB with Manning may go up in Vegas, but until we see him in a real game it doesn't change anything except that have no cap to spend on anything else.

I think Peyton Manning is great and under different circumstances would love him here. I don't think this is the right time to bring him unless he wants to play for a minimum contract

That's a very good point. Our defense could be scary good playing with a lead all the time.

    The anti-Manning posts are hilarious.

Manning to the Jets makes so much sense that it is laughable to say it is a bad idea.

He helps the offense instantly. He makes every wr look good, and if he comes, so will Reggie Wayne. He made Blair White and Jacob Tamme look great for crying out loud. Imagine what he can do with Tone and Keller. The fear he puts in defenses with his ability to pass prevents teams from stacking the box and will allow Greene and McKnight to break off huge runs. His ability to read defenses and pick up the blitz will cover up any deficiencies in the offensive line. Manning alone adds probably 10 points per game to this offense.

And then the benefit to the defense. Firstly, the defense can take more chances knowing Manning can score points and cover up any mistakes they make. That will lead to more turnovers and defensive td's. Secondly, the defense will often play from ahead, and that means teams will have to play into the Jets stregth - pass defense. And that will make the stregth even more deadly because teams might have to throw at Revis, and Rex can call all-out blitzes.

In other words, Manning's impact on this team will be profound. And it will result in 12+ wins, a real chance at a bye, and a shot at a SB.

And also, if it doesn't work out, what have the Jets lost? A guy who his more ardent supporter cant say is, or ever will be, a top 10 qb? A guy who his most ardent supporter cant say wont need to be be replaced in 2 years? There is no guarantee the Jets wont be looking at Matt Barkley with Mark Sanchez in a year. So, what will we miss out on if we get Manning and he hurts himself in week 2?

Manning to the Jets is arguably the biggest no-brainer of the off-season for us.

I'm only on board if Sanchez can stay. If Sanchez can be the understudy then become an Aaron Rodgers after Manning retires I'm all for it.

If it doesnt work, it sets the franchise back 3-5 years. That is why many posters are apprehensive since Manning will most likely require all of our cap room this year.

Manning's health, creating the necessary cap room, and what this does to our long term QB plans (will Sanchez be cut like Pennington?) are all reasons for concern. IMO, it's a short sighted road that we have been down before. Besides, in all of those prolific years with Indy, how many SBs did Manning go to? How does that guarantee us anything?

I don't want to give up on Sanchez, but assuming the FO did decide to go after Manning I wonder if we could get Seattle to give us #12 for him? Probably not, eh?

Thank you. It doesn't guarantee us anything. If we win a SB it would be surprising with or without Manning considering our team right now.

It would be interesting if Manning went SF though. He would play for a Head Coach he replaced as QB in Indy.

If he goes to the 49ers, its over. They will repeat. That defense will hold every team to 14 points, and Peyton will be putting up 25+ every game.

and what if sanchez proves to be nothing more then average like he has been? that also sets the franchise back the same way.

i'm going for the super bowl.

I do not understand how you can argue that acquiring Manning would risk set us back 3-5 yrs but going with Sanchez would not carry that risk.

I think the risk of us having to start over the next couple of years are significant in both cases, I just think that manning has a higher probability of taking the team to the SB than Sanchez.

Having said tat I do not think we will get manning, so i will support sanchez as far as he takes us.
