One could certainly make a compelling argument that they've already employed this strategy the last 2 games...

Knowing how this CS and FO thinks about Hack, there's no way he'll step foot between the lines unless its either before the game or Shitz gets smashed. I'm hoping for the latter personally. I don't think keeping Hack in the original packaging is the right way to go about it. The Oline won't be taking some quantum leap next year even if Macc breaks the bank on FA olinesman as it takes time for an oline to jell. Play Hack at least for a qtr in garbage time. That should come pretty early for the Jets. Hack will get his turn to play behind the worst oline in the NFL at some point. He's gonna get sacked one day too so take off the bubble wrap and the knee pads, put Hack in his bigboy pants and get him on the field.

Petty found out the hard way what this CS/FO really thinks of him and I hope he's learned a very valuable and very hard lesson about the NFL. He was never the "chosen one", Hack was. The handwriting on the wall could not be clearer. Only the Jets would draft a guy in the 4th round specifically to be a backup Qb when they're a dime a dozen on the open market.

That "opportunity" he was given was really a mirage. The team had already quit for the season, the oline was garbage and the defense has real issues. No small wonder they want to protect Hack after the oline turned Petty into a pinata.

If you were to do a search on "QB Stupid", the Jets would probably be the first reference that comes up.

Obviously he needs to be hid like this at this point in his career.

The Jets made that clear when they said this year would be a redshirt year after watching him in OTA's and camp.

There's no point in putting somebody out there if they're 90% likely to fail. That just feeds into the "Jets are incompetent" meme that is gaining strength at this point.

You don't make bad moves from a bad posture in a state of desperation.

Enjoy him while you can. He's going to be 29 in October next year and barring a miracle he's going to be retired by 2019.

John Henry Johnson gives me some hope on him but he's one of the few exceptions to the rule that RB's break like glass shortly after their 30th. Johnson was a utility back (FB/HB) who played for a couple of teams in the rotation in his early and prime years. Then he arrived at the Steelers at 31 and became a great back for 5 years.

The thing that gives me hope is that Powell's attitude has changed in a big way the last couple of years. He runs very hard now and breaks tackles and just looks like he's trying to go out on top after being a reserve for most of his career. I think some of Chris Ivory's mojo rubbed off on him.

I'd rather see Fitz earn his LAST Jets gamecheck. Hope he plays horrible. Lol

So if you're going to spend the off-season aggressively working on Hack (an assumption, but a safe one), throwing him in for 1 game, to get some video footage of him, so he can see in real time game-scenario, where his flaws are, review and repair. It's one thing in practice when they can't hit him...fear changes mechanics...

How bad can Hack get hurt when Rex only plays 10 guys on defense?

The plan the entire year was to redshirt Hackenberg (and most fans were on board with it). I appreciate them at least sticking to their long term plan. He needs a mechanics overhaul.

Fans got on the front office for playing Sanchez and Geno before they were ready. Now fans are getting on them for doing the exact opposite with Hackenberg.

When two of your QBs are out for the season your plan is out the window.

Keep him on the bench. Let Fitz play for another shot at joining another team cause his value is at an all time low.

Why? They can play Fitz this week and their plan works out fine.

The problem with that is... the FO/CS will not have a clue as to what they have in Hackenberg. The Qb position will be one blank sheet of paper and as usual, they will be flying blind trying to do shit on the fly like always. Their "plan" was flawed from the beginning. Given their track record in developing Qb's, any plan they had should have been trash canned after the Miami game when they really knew the season was over.

How many successful organizations have next to no information regarding the most important position on the field before the offseason even begins? Hell, they don't even know who's gonna be on the roster except Hack.

How much will the Coaching Staff learn from a week 17 game where the player is going to have all of his mechanics overhauled in the offseason?

Using video of in-game footage is an invaluable tool while trying to fix mechanics. If Hack can see it, he stands a better chance of fixing it.

But, let's face it, Hack isn't shit.

Star, no. Good QB: Kirk Cousins, Philip Rivers. Eli sat for half a year and the case can be made he could have sat the full year with the way he played.

they'll learn what his makeup is. How he handles pressure..They'll get a view of Hack's "intangibles". Especially now that Rex and Rob are out in Buffalo. There no longer is any reason to start Shitz over Hack.

Why do you guys want to baby Hack so much? Is he porcelain or somethin?
