The guy literally treats Cutler and Fitzpatrick as if they are Montana and Marino, so not sure it means too much. :D:D

If Petty helps them win the next four games - including beating the Pats at Foxboro - I'll live with the lower draft spot and keeping Bowles for now. But I doubt they'll win all four, maybe split, which would be ok too, especially if Petty looks good in all four games but they; lose for other reasons besides poor QB'ing. And splitting might be enough to send Bowles away. Come to think of it, winning all four might do the same, showing that it was really stupid of him to keep Fitz as the starter and Petty on the bench all that time.

In any case, I'm really hoping Petty does well. It would give me some hope for the future.

lol words mean nothing. All offseason the whole team looked good. Marshall talked up Fitz as being an elite qb. Where has all the talk gotten us?

All of these is how i am thinking. I want petty to show up. I don't want to win more games. I would like to be some what hopeful for next year.If he does well and the defense falls short I can live very happily. If Petty can win vs Mia Buf and NE I will not be mad FUCK those teams

I mean whether he looks good or not, what are they gonna say? Petty looks terrible in practice?

I don't really see this as a good or bad thing. Hopefully we see the team play hard for him though.

I want Petty to do well. I really do. Same goes for Hack. It's just that we've been at this for 6 years since .... Favre? Oh God, I just threw up in my mouth a little. Oh, please let the Jets find a long term answer at QB. I implore you!

If for nothing else this gives us a reason to watch the last quarter of the season.

    Holy Shit.

    I can see it now.

Petty comes out and lights this team up, and we destroy our next 4 opponents, completely re-writing every expectation for the NY Jets and their foreseeable future.

TGG forum sinks into the Swamps of Sadness with Artax due to losing draft position.

I'd sign up for Petty dominating, setting up a potential exciting 2017!

You must be young..I've been waiting since 1976 for the Jets to find a qb.

Hopefully there is a way that Petty can play very well and the Jets still lose out, but with the 1 win Niners coming up, it will be difficult to lose that one. Given the choice, I'd rather see Petty light it up and win 3 of 4 and not have to worry about QB moving forward than get a higher draft pick and still have a huge ? at the position going into 2017.

If you're Petty wouldn't you WANT to hear your #1 receiver is hyping you up?

If Petty lights it up and we destroy our next 4 opponents, I can't imagine ANY poster sinking into sadness over lost draft position. I think everyone would be so ecstatic that we've finally found our QB of the future, that we wouldn't give a crap about draft position.

You'll love this shit. This is the analysis of the bad Petty throws http://www.jetnation.com/2016/12/09...k-13-colts-petty-crimes/#sthash.UgnBxQe2.dpbs

I am more encouraged than ever after reading this. The author does a great job explaining each of these bad plays. Most of the time Petty made the right read, but the throw was off. The author thinks Petty has a better grasp of Gailey's offense than the media is reporting, and its primarily a question of whether Petty can get on the same page with his receivers.

If this is the case, I'm confident that now that he will be getting first team reps his accuracy will improve and I'm cautiously optimistic that Petty has the makings of a good QB.

I think spread system QB's can work out fine, if they have intelligence and are given the time to learn the playbook. And unlike RG3, Mariotta isnt being asked to make plays with his feet. Durability concerns are another issue with the spread QB's, but problem solved if scrambling isnt used heavily.

Does anyone agree with Mehta today that setting up a structure where the coach reports to the owner and the GM also? It seems that is a recipe for this mess. The coach should report to the GM and he to the owner. Coaches always worry about their record now and the GM has to concern him self with building an organization. They are not the same. Any GM with the power would have replaced Fitz. much earlier. According to Mehta he doesn't have the power.
