Am I really misquoting you if you are blaming the QB coach for Petty not being competent? The QB coach is the extension of the HC. The prospect evaluation comment wasn't a shot at anyone. Just making comparisons. I recommend reading up on the Baylor offense a little bit and just learning about why QBs from the Baylor offense tend to not be very good at the next level. Well the Art Briles age anyway. This will tell you why Petty wasn't really worth the draft selection to begin with. This mindset has been the same mind-set I have had about Petty since he was drafted. Sometimes, players don't improve sometimes you can't coach them up. It happens! I have faith in Bates and Morton, I really like the system they have implemented. It is a QB friendly offense. They won't trout out a QB that isn't ready, yet they have given the QB plenty of reps during the off-season to gauge their progress. I don't get mad at people that don't agree with me, matter of fact anyone that has corrected me, I have given them credit. All I ask is that you come correct. BTW, yes I am weird, but I think you were a little too sensitive, cause I posted those batman memes and you got triggered. No beef here, but in order to get back to sucking, you first actually have to be good no? Not much else to discuss here so just gonna move on. Bygones be bygones.
Just my 2 cents , I think with all of just 5 games that Petty has started in his career, too much is expected for any QB to produce anything worthwhile if that QB is not consecutively involved without being benched for lengthy periods. Not to make comparisons, but if you take a look at John Elway's stats for the 1st year and with playing 11 games he was horrible. QB rating of 47% - 7 TDS 14 INT's But Elway had the arm and the physical attributes. He was Adonis with the helmets and pads.. Denver had no choice but to force themselves to be patient with all the money they were doling out. The Jets and their fans are the anti-thesis of Denver. No patience. No plan. No hope. A total of 5 games is all we have to go by so lets buy Petty and 1 way ticket to the next team ASAP.
How else do you explain mccown having a career year with out crediting the coaching? New, mccown best year before this wa 2013 when he was working with the same qb coach. The proof is in the pudding. So yea, I have confidence in this qb coach tinkering with another , hopefully better prospect. Petty seems to have regressed because the system does not fit him. Gailey s spread made him look not awful but this system really exposes the fact that he is a one read, spread big 12 college qb . Now, as far as the soccer training schedule you touched on, the cba limits the amount of practice and exposure the coaches have with the players. The players bargained for less practice and more time off in the offseason, it’s up to them to go work with hired coaches independent of the teams coaching. Petty has done this,it was touched on in the saints game broadcast. So it’s not just the nyj coaching staff that has been in Petty’s ear. As to that long rant in the middle of your post, calm down bro, you’re being very defensive. I did not attack you, I offered evidence that the coaching staff is not the blame for petty not working out.
Sorry.. but where did I say that..something about you blaming or not blaming TB TBH I don't even remember ..if you highlighted it I would..in any event sorry bout that
Watching Petty and knowing that the organization thinks he's a better option than Hackenberg makes me sad. Those two guys were the #2 pick and Josh Rosen if we played them all year.
Rosen might be having some issues Br4d ... durability just isn't there with the kid ... 2 concussions, shoulder
Mac n Bowles knew that too and that’s why they didn’t. And no one who was personally vested in the results would either
Red flags are how people like Dan Marino and Ben Roethlisberger dropped in their respective drafts. I do hear the concerns but we have to remember that the guy was playing behind a weak offensive line in a major media capital.
Each of the QBs entering the draft have question marks. We are lucky that they’re seems to be at least 5 first rd worthy QBs and we will be in position for one of them. I think Darnold is head and shoulders above the rest but then the rest bunched together with both positives and negatives. Jets are in a good spot to get a QB this draft then the important question becomes do they know what to do with QB to help him succeed? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
