There can't be any winners in this argument. This thread is going to get out of hand at any moment and I can understand why. I don't respect Vick nor did I want the guy on this team but he's a Jet and that's just the way it is.
Agreed and my apologies for the ugly picture i painted. Just a situation that will get the best of me any time its brought up.
That is not the way it works and you know that..... He did his time and that is that. If you have a problem with the amount of time he recieved take it up with the Judge who sentenced him..... That petition is ignorant.....
Actually its exactly how it works. Its an improper term that is used constantly by people who don't understand the law. Why do you think pedophiles have to register as sex offenders and let city's/towns know when they move in even though they have "paid their debt". It is impossible to pay a debt to a society unless you can actually repay that debt. Unless he has come up with a way to remove the physical pain form the survivors and bring back the murdered dogs then their is no possible way to pay his debt to any one other then the states sentencing.
I doubt it will JLLo. First off, The Jets would never allow for a member of their team to be segregated from his teammates. Secondly, the guy has gone "through the system" and has paid his debt at which point I doubt any state-supported institution ban could take place without Albany sanctioning it since SUNY's are under the aegis of the NYS Legislature. But more to the point, even if somehow a ban on Vick came to be, it would then be game over: Woody would simply take his ball and go elsewhere and economically-speaking, in an upstate community that can use all the 'business' they can get, business owners would be up in arms. The bottom line is the Jets are good for Cortland and Cortland wants the thousands of out-of-town Jet fans like myself to keep coming up there and supporting their businesses. www.change.com <----through this link you can draft your own petition aimed at any person or group.
True. Thanks for this post man. I just hope ESPN gets their hands on this situation. They have a way of brainwashing people into hating the jets
They will or just did.. FOX Sports NFL @NFLonFOX 14m A petition from http://Change.org is pushing to ban Mike Vick from college campus that hosts Jets training camp: http://foxs.pt/1kjGCLr
I hope they go to Hofstra now. Cortland is full of shit, all of them are Saints that have never done anything wrong
Selfishly, I would be totally on board with this, but I understand that Rex likes the idea of getting the team relatively isolated upstate away from the off-the-field distractions that the NYC area would present, esp. to the "first time in the Big City" rookie hayseeds to focus on football business. Driving up there (for me from Westchester) the trip's not that bad and fwiw, once you're settled in there, it's nice that it's only minutes away from the practice fields with no chance of a traffic jam to speak of. And as for the town itself, the town and Main Street in particular has a nice "homecoming-welcome NY Jets" vibe to it.
But that's not what he did. He and the MANY guys involved in their fighting league owned the dogs. It was not "your" or "my terrier." When the farmer takes HIS cow and hacks it in the back of the neck before skinning it and mincing it for MY burger, should he be punished? Of course not. Spend some time in a butcher shop (I have) then talk to me about animal rights.
I have never been to Cortland so I can't comment, but I used to live right on Front Street in Uniondale and me and my pops used to walk right up Uniondale Ave and be at the stadium/practice fields in minutes. The Jets are Long Island's team to me, and they should give the loyal fans who can't afford to go to any games, a chance to see them up close. They need to tear down Nassau Colliseum and build a stadium for the Jets right there... I would die and go to heaven.
I'd like to beat the dog owners - that don't pick up their dog's shit in front of my house - with a hammer over their head until they died. Keep your dirty animal in your yard. Vick did us a favor. /snark
The sentence Vick served was given to him, by the state and the people. He served his time for his Crime. He served a lot more time then a celebrity gets look at L. Lohan, C. Brown and Hilton idiots. Vick lost his prime years, and huge chunk of change... I'm not in any way saying what he did was light, but the punishment given to him was served humbly and heavily. Time to move on. Let the man play. There are criminals right now on your block who committed equally as bad or worse crimes than him, we just don't get to know abt it.
It's that holier than thou attitude bs. Always thinking to themselves Im better than you, I never did anything wrong so I will judge you
