i thought revis said he didnt want to go through any of this BS again? and it only takes a week or two for him to start talking about his next contract? best case scenario we win the super bowl this year and cromartie and wilson have monster seasons. if mevi$ still seems like he's going to be a problem off the field then trade his ass for a first rounder next year and the year after... which would hopefully give us cap relief to re sign harris and cromartie. according to CBS sports 8 of the top 50 prospects for next year's draft are CBs, and 13 are d-linemen, trading revis for a first in 2011 and 2012 (IF he's going to be a problem) would be a good move, allowing us to re-stock our D with 2 first rounders over each of the next 2 seasons
Thank you. If Revis plays up to his full ability for the next two seasons, they are going to be very, very fun to watch. Worry about his next contract when the time comes. It makes me sad and confused that the season starts in 2 hours, yet some sad fans are focusing on 2012 like they're fucking Mayan.
Agreed. If this gets the Jets Revis' best possible production, I'll happily take the holdouts with it.
obviously everyone is excited for the season to start and optimistic for a great season but doesn't it worry you a little bit that after such a public and excruciating hold-out revis is already talking to reporters about doing it again in 2 years? if he plays well tonight than everyone will forget about it, but if he looks even a half-step slow then people will be worried, as they should be
No, what happens with Revis's contract in 2 years does not worry me right now. Right now I'm just excited to see what happens this season. And if I were worrying, it would be about something real (not Revis's theoretical future holdouts or whether the world is ending because he's a half step slow after missing TC.)
He will not hold out in 2012 he will just say sign me to a new deal or I will be gone after 2013 as the Jets cannot franchise him or restrict him in anyway per the contract that was signed. Essentially he signed a 2 year deal at 16.1 million per year and the Jets gave up all their leverage in the ability to restrict him. If the jets do not resign him next year they risk him just walking in 2013. Imagine how much Daniel Snyder will pay him as a FA. Last years deal was a terrible deal for the Jets.
they shouldn't have signed him. they should have let him sit out the entire season and remain under contract. F him.
I did hear a passing mention of anti-holdout rules for veterans on ESPN Radio this afternoon. However, I can't seem to find anything online expect for the rookie holdout rules.
That and also the fact that in the contract he signed before the start of last-season. I did over-exaggerate on that previous post, but it's in Revis's COMPLETE and best interest not to pull that shit again if he wants to truly cash in on another big deal in a few seasons Via ganggreen news He could technically hold out, but he has absolutely no leverage, less leverage than the previous holdout Jets have all the cards until his contract runs out It's as close to a holdout clause as a holdout clause could get
Revis signed a 7 year deal with us. The first four years of that deal are big money years, while the last three he gets paid much less. As part of his contract, if he reports to training camp on time and attends all mandatory offseason activities, those final three years void. That's it. He's not going to hold out in 2011, 2012, or 2013 unless he wants to play the last three years of his deal at only $6M/year.
