Lambeau Field is in the center of the city. It has huge parking lots all around it. Everyone lives within 15 minutes of the stadium. It's pretty much the ideal situation to get people to come to the games. Even preseason ones. I'll bet it takes me 3 hours round-trip to attend a Jets game. So the travel time equals the length of the game for me. Talk about a disincentive to attend one !
Yeah, if you drive 10 minutes outside of Greenbay (not even really) you're in the middle of farm country... Some of our clients' employees lived over an hour from Green Bay and would still drive to the games without question. Don't take that point wrong... the point is that there is NOTHING to do so of course they'll drive to the stadium. I lived up near Providence last year (now back new New Haven), and I used to have a 3+ hour drive to the stadium, and that's not including the traffic getting out of the stadium and back over the GW. It was MISERABLE (especially with the games last season). Its a completely different situation than anything Green Bay has to deal with it... you show those guys the traffic, and what an accident can do to the GW, and they'd have half empty preseason games too.
King has obviously been writing about sports for too long and his responses only prove his ignorance on the matter. to refute the economic woes portion of the argument he says we already paid for the tickets? so apparently he thinks that if you click your heels 3 times you arrive at the stadium, if you tailgate, well you can eat some else's food, when you're in the stadium all beverages and food are free...amd click your heels 3 more times at the end of the game and your back in your living room.........what an idiot.... also as others have posted, he uses MSG and Kobe Bryant as some sort of comaprison....umm Pete, it's pretty easy to get to MSG from basically anywhere in the metro area........jackass
Yea... MSG has what? just short of 20,000 capacity... and Giants Stadium is just short of 78,000. He's just ignorant... its funny that the amount of Jets fans that DID go this past saturday, would've filled up MSG probably 2x. And MSG is a LOT easier to get to as pointed out. BUT GOOD POINT PETER KING.
Two words: It's preseason. It doesn't count til it counts in the stat book, which is week one, not week minus four.
