For sure, but I really want to see a full season if Pithouhoua this year. He was looking really good before the injury. Agree on Ellis, I like the roatation though, we need some youth in there. Btw..Pool baffles me, he can't cost that much.
It's funny. No one is expecting a curve ball? Everyone with the Tannenbaum avatars changed their opinions of him? I still expect a curve ball signing/trade.
no problem by me. BE isn't gonna kill the jets as much as it would to lose Holmes. just the deal, can't sign everyone. I hope we use that money to re-up CRO, Ellis, pick up T. Warren (league min or near), & scoop up Randy Moss.
Also the Jets sources need to shut the fuck up about acquisitions in the media. They've blown up a couple deals now, IMO.
Before someone says something. We did have more sacks in 2010 then 2009. However, we had a lot more pressures in 2009 then 2010.
Moss is better than any option out there with the exception of Malcolm Floyd because of his height. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have Moss as our #2 and Cotch as our #3 rather than James Jones or Cotch as our #2. We all hate him, but he's a deep threat that, when motivated, can be a force. He wouldn't walk into a situation he didn't want to be in. I think he clearly didn't want to be in Minny taking a back seat to Favre's circus and we all know he didn't want to be in Tennessee.
Moss runs 3 routes at this point in his career. This team doesn't need that. I don't need this board blowing up because he gets lazy and we turn on him - think that's bound to happen.
I'll take those three routes over James Jones' 5 routes and dropped balls. Putting Randy Moss on the field immediately makes Santonio Holmes and Dustin Keller that much more dangerous. Send Moss up the left side and all of a sudden that safety is dropping back to help which leaves Holmes in single coverage and the middle of the field open for Cotch and Keller to work. Add in LT out of the backfield and a mobile QB... that's not a bad look. That's why I'd like to bring in Floyd because he's another deep threat that teams have to respect. I always say this in basketball: it doesn't matter if a guy is making his three's, if he's a known and labeled three-point specialist, teams have to respect it. He'll get doubled and that will leave someone open. I know it doesn't work exactly that way in football, but you know what I'm saying.
Pretty disappointed by this news. And to the poster that stated Revis/Sheppard was a better combo than Revis/Cro because we finished #1 in pass defense to #6 with the latter; an utterly asinine statement. Just because you change a variable doesn't mean the difference was soley attributed to that variable. Reasons why our '09 defense was much better than '10: -Full season of Jim leonhard -Teams weren't used to Rexs exotic blitzes -We had a better defensive line -Pace and Thomas both had awesome seasons -No Pool, who sucked for most of his time with the Jets (save end of the season/playoffs) The list goes on. Now onto, plan B/C. I would KILL for Malcolm Floyd. Big, physical receiver that would do wonders for Mark. Does anyone have the FA WR list offhand that they can post to this thread?
I think Jones and Floyd are not cost-effective enough to sign. The Jets can try to find a comparable talent in the bargain bin somewhere.
We are also a "Ground and Pound" team. Having a #2 that can stretch the field is a great caveat, since it pulls guys out of the box. However, having a #2 that can block is imperative to what we do, which is the reason Braylon fits so nicely there. He can go deep, demand secondary help, and block his ass off. I don't think Moss has ever been known for his blocking prowess. I didn't watch much of Floyd last year, but I see some Bolts fans saying that he blocked well (for what it's worth).
moss was a deep threat, now he is washed up, and you can completely eliminate him playing any coverage with a deep safety. forgetting all the BS he brings, he still isnt even worth a minimum contract now that he has lost 3 steps
Agreed on all. Floyd is still my number one option to bring in, but I wouldn't be upset with ANY number 2 that can open up the middle of the field. And Moss does that. I think you're confusing "lost 3 steps" with "didn't give a shit" here. Not that it's excusable, but you can't tell me what you saw with the Titans was a good gauge at all of what Moss still has left in the tank. He didn't look all that bad with the Pats at the beginning of the year, remember the play Revis pulled his hammy? That was one hell of a catch. I know one catch doesn't define someone, but he has far from lost three steps. Maybe one and a half.
I'm not a Moss advocate, but he surely didn't lose 3 steps. The guy got past Revis, and burnt our coverage in his first game with the Vikes (without even knowing the playbook). He simply gave up after that, and that's his biggest issue. However, that is what makes him intriguing as well. If the dude is on his game, and he has something to prove...watch out.
Sidenote: how the hell can I get my username changed? I registered here three years ago just to lurk so I used my corny 8th grade Dave Matthews Band screen name as my user name. But now that I actually post, I don't want to look like so much of a tool
PM a mod. They can change it for you. Now that I know what DMB stands for, I'd get it changed to. Your name sucks haha
