we don't know the whole story on Braylon obviously, otherwise he'd probably already be signed somewhere.
I'm telling you guys. It has very little to do with his DUI and very much to do with the fact that he wants to be paid like a No 1 receiver and most GMs don't consider him one.
Whiny cunt. The FA period just started, relax man, Holmes was the # 1 guy and we got him right off the bat. Edwards and Smith were goners from the start, can't sign everyone. If we lose Cro, we are screwed, the # CB position is the most important opening we have. And safties we are short on also and we signed Eric Smith. They will get it done, we took at shot the # 1 guy and missed out, no harm since Cro remain
im going to bed. when i wake up, im going to read that the jets and edwards are discussing a contract.
To begin with, Plax wasn't a Jet when that happened. That's a whole different situation. Braylon had his own problems before also, and he was given the chance. And this could be another big piece of the puzzle: We keep saying that the Jets don't have a problem signing problematic guys; well, maybe Woody does; maybe Tanny and Rex convinced Woody to sign this guys and Woody agreed on the condition that the first strike is an out. It's not absurd to think that when they signed Edwards it was on that condition. And if he knew it, then that also could explain why he became a 150% devoted player after the incident. This would mean that basically he has been begging for forgiveness since that day. Probably that's a stretch, but it's still not impossible. First, I honestly can't see how can anyone compare a foot fetish with a DUI. Then, we don't know if Rex was also conditioned after that story. I totally agree on this part. I was the whole offseason in the "Braylon > Holmes > Cro" camp, and I really hope somehow Braylon is back. But so far the only explanations are that the FO is NOT seeing how important Braylon is, or that WE are missing something. I think is the latter. Hopefully, Braylon doesn't sign anywhere, we don't sign any WR and we get to keep him still.
Honestly, I'm all for getting Braylon back, because while he has had his share of off the field problems, he's been nothing but a hard worker for this team. Plus I think Mark could really grow even more this year having Edwards back along side Holmes and Cotch. I'd rather have him back than any WR available via free agency. It won't make or break our season, don't get me wrong, but I do like our chances more with him than without.
Vikings signed Mike Jenkins, So it looks like the vikings got there wr, so braylon really has no where to go now unless there is some team that wants to pay him number 1 money. Also Carr and clements are off the board going to the ravens and bengals. I guess we need to make a very hard push now for cromartie, and get edwards cheap since he since no one will pay him big bucks.
It's not about the DUI. Braylon wants to get #1 receiver money and the Jets don't want to pay that when they have a horde of free agents to re-sign. If other teams reject his asking price I still think there's a chance Braylon is a Jet this season, I really hope so.
But what is his asking price? It can't be too ridiculous. If we were willing to give Aso 12 million or whatever was rumored, why can't we give Braylon 8 or 9 mil? If we structure the contract properly, which Tanny is a genius at, we probably wouldn't have any huge cap concerns. In my opinion, our defensive scheme will usually succeed in spite of our personnel, but our offense really needs to have consistency for Mark to succeed. I think Braylon has been great for him and they've built a great rapport. I definitely want Cro back, but Braylon needs to be a priority too.
Yeah we can but then what are we going to pay Cromartie with? Braylon was my favorite out of our WR's the last few seasons, but Cro is more of a need.
