I honestly think Woody is the weak link here. We always have some weird sort of dynamic between the GM, Owner, and coach. I also think Woody gets influenced way too easily and its to his own detriment. You can already see positive change with Chris Johnson at the helm. Can Woody just stay over there in England?
What are you talking about? He won 2 rings with the Giants, was one of the major pieces of Parcells' defense through most of the 80s, and one of the top linebackers in the league till he retired. He then spent a good part of a decade and a half coaching under Belecheat and won 3 more rings. Maybe he's frustrated that he never rose to the position of coordinator or head coach, but I don't think that anyone can dismiss his NFL career as mediocre, especially not his playing career.
Pepper did come off as a disgruntled employee. But he had some valid points. Especially Bowles and Rodgers. Finally, someone inside has said what many were thinking about them. We all knew Woody is a schmuck and nothing will ever change that.
I think Chris and Woody both love Bowles and have protected him. Mac is a smart guy, but he doesn't control Bowles fate and deserves to at least once hire his own coach. There is no way Mac would've kept Bowles this long if it was his call
Perfectly said. He’s a crappy coach with a big mouth. ( Problem is, so is Kacy Rodgers) he shoulda been fired at the end of that season as wel. Yup. And the Pats keep winning without him as well.
Oh, I got a brand new pair of roller skates and you got a brand new key . . . goddamn it, I hate that song!
F Woody, F the Maras, F The New Dump, and F the Jets FO. Seriously. "The New Dump you say? Konga smash!" Haha, I love that movie. "Konga, put me dowwwwn!" Michael Gough, lol.
The Jets should never have gotten rid of Karl Dunbar. Yeah, he's bitter, but he also probably doesn't care anymore. It almost reads like a Keymouth rant. The main thing I disagree with is him opining that Woody Johnson wouldn't have been in his room after surgery. Guess what, Pepper? Who wants to wake up to that. It probably would have made me violent seeing Woody Johnson coming out of anesthesia. Me and anesthesia don't get along very well together as it is, but it would've put me over the edge, no doubt in my mind.
A goofy Tiger Lillies, haha. Don't they have a song about hard cider or something? I blame Pepper Johnson for turning this thread into being about the Wurzels and drinking. Don't blame me, man, blame Pepper. I read that Woody the rube was in town not long ago for some fancy schmancy get together and watched the pre-season game vs. the Redskins. I hope someone kicked him in his ass back across the pond by now. Keeps him away from the Jets, but my sympathies to Mother England. Sorry. :/
