Sanchez blows... He can't even hit his checkdown receivers on 5 yard passes with no one in his face... he's horrible. At this point I'd take anyone over Sanchez, and if the Dolphins would have offered us a straight up trade mid-game... Sanchez for Moore, I'd have told them to walk to mid-field, and switch jerseys. Flynn from GB, Moore from the Fins, maybe McElroy if he comes back healthy... but we have to drop Brunell, and draft someone in the later rounds to start a few games over Sanchez in the pre-season. We at least need a decent second option... I can't believe that Sanchez has gotten worse every year... and I don't care what the stats say, he doesn't pass the eyeball test. He looked better his rookie year, and last year, than he did this year for sure... This year it's as if the pressure finally crushed him. The run game saved him in his rookie season, Cotchery, Brad Smith, and Braylon saved him last year... and this year, he was finally exposed for being what he really is... A scared quarterback who would make a decent backup,
Sanchez only problem is that he is a #5 pick and the most overpaid athlete in the universe. The haters expect him to be better than he is and might ever be. He will be a solid performer for jets in the future if handled correctly, but they need to renegotiate his rookie contract to release funds for other areas to compensate, such as oline and wr and pass rush and safeties. Otherwise a FA qb can do an equal good job.
A QB that was thrown in the fire before he was ready. Overall at times he has shown himself to be a solid player and someone that may one day lead the jets to a superbowl win. As for now he's borderline hot stinking trash.
So, Sanchez needs a running game that can rack up 150+ yards in every game, a good OC and good wide receivers. Well, the thing is pretty much any NFL QB would be successful if given all of those things. But he was selected at #5 overall, which in my opinion means that he should be able to win games with his own ability. He does make very good plays from time to time but there are quite a few dumb mind-boggling decisions for every brilliant throw that he makes.
I think what happened to Sanchez this year was fairly obvious...he got extremely rattled early on in the year by how much he was getting tossed around like a ragdoll, and he was letting it affect him the whole year. He had the happy feet going on all year long, it was ridiculous. Add in the absolute ineptness of this offensive coordinator (AWFUL!) and that equals disaster. He needs an experienced offensive mind to come in and get in his face and get him to stop being a little bitch in the pocket and step up and gun it. He misses the easy throws in the pocket because even if he's NOT under pressure he throws off his back foot because he's scared. He's gotta man up next year. He definitely has a good skill set, and he's a VERY good quarterback when he extends the play outside the pocket. He's just gotta work on being more relaxed IN the pocket. A large part of that is the line getting better obviously, but part of it does fall on him growing a sack.
I think your right, he played scared most of the season after the Ravens game but even early on he didn't look awesome. That being said he was much better during those early games then he was late in the season. I think Sanchez is part of the problem, not saying Schotty isn't because it's clear he is. I'm throwing Cavanaugh and the OL in there as well. I still think regardless of what happened in San Fran allowing Braylon Edwards to leave was a bad move. He was hungry, he played hard and he wanted to be a Jet. He was also our best WR the previous two seasons. I said it last year and I'm sticking by it, given the choice between Holmes and Edwards I wanted the more physical, taller and better blocker. I know Holmes made some big plays last year but so did Edwards.
I don't think that's it at all. He definitely deserves criticism, but he is taking too much of the blame. There's far more wrong than simply Sanchez. He gets at least another year to prove himself. Schotty is terrible and Hunter almost got Mark killed on a number of snaps, plus our receivers love to drop the ball and rarely get separation. We know Mark ain't Drew Brees, but he's shown he's fully capable when his team mates help him out and actually make plays.
And his happy feet, and throwing off his back foot and on and on and on...but let the people who want to love him here continue doing so. It reminds me of the Pennington debates a few years back. He is a horrible pro QB and all you had to do was watch today's game to see that.
yup he's a qb not a magician. if he had the weapons Brees, Brady or Rodgers had, he be the one setting the records
c'mon with this ridiculous stuff. Sanchez wouldn't be setting any records. There are many things that could have been better around him, but he has flaws of his own.
Come on guys. This offensive system is a mess. There is no creativity at all and the play calling makes me want Paul Hackett back. The O-line was putrid this year, and the wide receivers are overrated. It was just a mess. Sanchez is not free of blame, thats clear. Nobody is claiming that he is. To say that would be ridiculous. However, if all they did this offseason was get rid of Sanchez and add PEYTON, we'd be heading into a longer and darker downtime than can be imagined. The entire system needs to be overhauled, and we need to give Sanchez another chance with a new system.
he's a 3rd year qb. i still have faith in him. All elite qbs were MISTAKE PRONE in their early years mark is still on that path.
That's an entirely different statement than saying he'd be setting the records if he had the weapons brees did.
I think the Jets need to hire Kate Upton as an intern to keep her close and her intentions true. She may be a Patriots plant. See - Sean Gilbert. Woody... Sign these breasts.
A young player making bad decisions?! That's never happened before! Sanchez is not a finished product, people. Giants fans wanted to get rid of Eli after three years. I knew they were dumb. The Chargers got rid of Drew Brees. I knew they were dumb. Sanchez haters have got to start to realize the NFL is a team league...the QB gets too much blame when the team loses and too much praise when they are successful. Always has been, always will be like that. To me, some people's savior Matt Flynn, is the perfect example of this. Is he as good as Aaron Rodgers? Not even close. But in the amazing Packers system, Matt Flynn can put up numbers comparable to him! Coaching is so important in the NFL and Schottenheimer has gone full retard.
Sanchez is a dog and at best a capable back-up somewhere else. Get Manning now, re-tool the O line and tweak the defense and we're right back where we were, which by the way wasnt beacause of Sanchez
