Jets win out I see them having a decent shot of the 5 seed, just need what ever other team makes it to lose 1 of 3. Even from the 6 seed they likely play Cincy with Dalton in his first game back from his broken thumb, I think the Jets would have a good shot in that situation. Until Dalton proves he can hang in the post season I give any team a chance against him. If they end up with the 5 seed then Houston or Indy I think they beat. A bit different team shows up than the one that lost to Houston a few weeks back. Hoyer, Mallet, Yates, whoever would play I think they shut down. I feel if they get a wildcard spot then they win the 1st game. But three games to play yet so the Super Bowl talk is a little silly.
Now I am not one to proclaim the Jets will win any game anywhere but Cinci, even with Dalton, has choked in the playoffs for many years. Lost in the WC round 6 straight times and the last 5 years with Dalton. NE this team did hang with the last time they played, NE has had a few more injuries since then and division games whether regular season or playoffs there is always a chance. Right now I think Steelers would be tough but if they are playing them I think a decent chance it would be in NY. If it comes to that it likely means the Jets have won 8 straight and are in the AFCCG, if that is the scenario then I don't see why you would doubt the Jets chances.
I highly doubt we end up as the 5 seed. I also highly doubt Pittsburgh ends up as the 6 seed. extremely, extremely unlikely that there is a scenario where the Jets would get Pittsburgh at home in the playoffs, about as unlikely as saying they will get to the SB like the OP is suggesting. honestly I sadly don't think the Jets will make the playoffs but if they do I don't see how it won't be as the 6th seed. that would mean @cinci, @den or even possibly @pittsburgh. obviously you hope for cinci given those choices
Even to make the wildcard, they would have to run the table to control their own destiny. That's asking a lot - especially when they have to go to Buffalo. Losing that stinker at home against Rex......they lost some respect in the league. I didn't see the Houston game, and glad I didn't!
We are in a thread that is talking about us in the Super Bowl so I figured we were suspending reality. I really think they need to win all 3 to make the playoffs and if they do they I don't think it is too far out there to think KC and Pitt each lose 1 game. Pitt plays Balt. and even though the Ravens are sucking ass right now they always play Pitt tough, won 4 out of last 5. KC has also lost 4 in a row to Balt. Pitt. has also lost 4 out of the last 5 to Denver. KC has lost 3 of last 5 to Cleveland Of course looking at head to head the Jets against P*ts and Bills is not good.
From worst jets team of all time to Super Bowl bound All in a matter of a few weeks...Living in the day of a Jets fan.
We don't even have a legit shot at a playoff spot at this time, but we have a legit shot at the Super Bowl??
If there was any year that a Jets team could do it, it's this one. We're hot, and that's what you want at this time of year. A top 10 offense and a top 10 defense...when Pitt has an awful D and Bell is injured, Patriots have 14 on IR, and Cincy without Dalton (with him they still didn't scare me).
Pitt has an unstoppable O though there D is very vulnerable. Plus they have a winning culture their. I'll concede it's not outlandish we can beat them. I think Cinci crushes us in talent across the board. Fitz up in NE I worry about, though talent wise we're comparable with them. I just see us losing a heartbreaker if we ever play in new England
Hell yeah. It's like no one followed this franchise longer than a week and a half. I'm pretty sure the Giants game thread wasn't all happy and positive until there were 4 minutes left in the game.
Actually, the SOJ part isn't the luck, it's giving away 3-4 games and being in this position in the first place. Win even ONE of the games we gave Philly, New England (this one especially), Buffalo and Houston and we're talking about a potential division title for once. SOJ indeed.
Tough losses are natural in this league; I suppose it seems they happen to us more than they ever should. Yet, if we do our thing, maybe we'll get some luck thrown our away via KC/Pitt losses.
That game against the Bills could really come back to haunt us. We let ourselves lose to inferior teams in Philly, Houston, and Oakland as well, although to be fair we got flat out beat in those 3 games. This team is close to being able to do something but we shot ourselves in the foot to often during the middle part of this season. And unfortunately for us the Wild Card raceis really tough this year. I don't think 10 wins gets us in.
We're not going to make it, this season is a karma repayment for "reversing" into the playoffs in 2009. /darksider
The Steelers offense has been on fire since Ben returned...Brown or OBJ is probably the best WR in the league.
