I would say a 4th rounder. Even though the entire NFL knows by now that Jets have no plans to use Chad, there would be teams targeting him and would'nt want to risk him being a Free Agent. So if theres good amount of interest, it will result in a reasonable trade value, atleast a 5th or maybe even a conditional upto 3rd.

I think we need to trade him out of the division out of respect to his legacy as a Jet. ;)

That or he'll go to the Pats, backup Tom and get a ring.

That's the right thing by the Jets, I hope Chad goes to Minny. he'll be starting by midseason and hopefully he can lead minny to the SB.

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning!

Not so much because I'm so sure what Favre will bring to the Jets, but because we FINALLY will not have to watch Pennington anymore...

NOW I'm excited for football season!

Thanks for a couple fun seasons Chad, but I could not be happier to see you go... Good luck wherever you end up...

EDIT: Anyone else think this is why Clemens was listed as #1 on the depth chart going into tonight's game, despite reportedly being out-dink-and-dunked by Pennington in TC?

^ junc, I admire your loyalty, but you CANNOT tell me watching Chad the last two seasons has been anything but painful....

Even if the record is the same, this team will be twice as fun to watch with a QB not afraid to throw the ball

Last year clearly was but we wouldn't have won w/ Brady last year. I just don't think we should throw away our guys, we made a move that most people like and that's fine but do we have to kick a guy on his way out the door? Wish him well and move on, he was all class here and her deserves respect from the fans.

^ Hey, I appreciate 2002, and his valiant effort in 2004 as much as anyone. I thank him for being classy the whole time.

But I was SO tired of watching boring football (even when we were winning games in 06)... As a fan, I'm here for entertainment first... So I'm happy to see him go. I hope he wins plenty of games while putting the fans to sleep in the Metrodome...

    Well said

It was kind of predictable the guy that would fire the parting shots would be based on the track records as well.

i think its more embarrassing that there are jet fans who are upset we're losing Chad "More of the Same"/"Noodles" Pennington.

This is the difference between us and the successful teams in the league.

Why are you upset that we're getting rid of the guy who couldnt get the job done?

    3-5 record, one Championship game.

    versus

    2-3, no championship games.

    Did I miss anything?

That's relevant since he hasn't won an MVP since 1997, come join us in this decade.

Yep 3-5 playing in a much weaker conference, he lost THREE home playoff games including ojne to the 8-8 Vikings. If the Jets were playing in the NFC in those years we'd have more than 1 Championship game appearance and probably a SB appearance. Now he steps up un class, no longer dealing w/ those weak NFC North teams he has the Pats to deal w/.

a conditional 3rd???? or a forth rd pick is definitely wishful thinking. noodle arm's ceiling would have to be a 5th at the very most, and thats only if we pull off a trade with someone as off the wall as you seem to be........

Then again, he was in 8 games to Chad's 5 and never missed a start. That's notable in itself.

Fair enough, how about we look at the amount of time spent on the IR... and just to be fair... every day brett favre has spent on IR will count as 4 weeks.
