I said Chad will put up HUGE numbers IF he maintains his health for a 16 game schedule. You seem to have doubts about this. I only have doubts as to his taking a beating...track record proves this out.. and the play of the OL will probably be held accountable for this.
Now hold on JWWS, where did you read I was holding MrNYJ's torch? I'm coming from the durability angle. Please feel free to point out to me in this thread where I've said anything negative about Chad's arm... I've said many times that Pennington's arm has surprised me this season so don't confuse my postings with NYJ's. I'm saying that 2 games isn't enough to claim Pennington is back. His mechanics are much better this season and being pain free, we just might FINALLY get to see the "Real" Chad. His biggest problem this year isn't his arm, its his OLine. His two game performance is pretty impressive for a guy coming off 2 shoulder surguries however, its only two games. Chad has 2-300 yard games because he has no running game at all. Most NFL QB's that's worth their paychecks can put up 300yd games if they throw often enough with a lucky break or two. When the weather turns colder and nastier and after countless hits, then we'll see if Pennington can continue at this level. As we both know, teams get better as the season wears on and there are still 14 games left. To say after only 2 games that Pennington is 100% back, if not better, is premature. I'd be more impressed if Pennington can turn in his first complete season of his career. Especially with a OLine that couldn't block Notre Dame's DLine. Can we talk about Pennington being all the way back after say, game 12 IF he's still on the field in one piece? I hope that clears things up a bit around here. If not, oh well..
Answer: When people stop making them... If the Jets go 6-10, that still would exceed any expectation by most people and yeah, even Mangini should recognize that. If Chad does it without an OLine and a single faceted game, He'll get plenty credit. Alot like the old days when the Colts put up as many points as they gave up. Manning had a shitty defense, but he still got the recognition. Finally, we agree on something...
ben got the steelers to the super bowl, but played awful when he got there. So I don't think he really did deliver.
