1 year/3 million? Perfect, helps the cap dramatically.

Not by my understanding of the cap.

He still has 12M of his 18M signing bonus that needs to hit the cap. If you cut his deal from 4 yrs remaining (as far as proration is concerned, it's 4) to 1, well guess what.. all 12M come into the cap in 2006.. That's a 15M hit in 2006.

Mawae is gone and soon to go are Pete Kendall and John Abraham...

Are we still going to go 13-3 and not be in rebuilding?

We will just have to draft/sign replacements. Apparently, the jets FO is thinking that they have better options and more affordable options at the position for 06. My prediction has not changed, especially will all the new cap space we are getting.

So hows the cap looking according to your porjections so far, taking into account all the restructures and cuts. Gimme a ballpark number, Id appreciate it. Are we under yet?

Phew! I was worried you might back away from your stupid prediction...but why should you do that? We are only cutting half the team?!

The paper said we were already under without the mawae cut (but they may have been taking that into account).

I can't even dream about Pennington, but if he did rip up his deal and take a 1 yr one, he would be a net 0 on the cap since he was going to cost 15M this yr anyway. I doubt it though.

I'm going to guess if Pennington took his salary down to 3M from 6+3, we're about 7M under

It's stupid to you, not to me. Enough already, people have different opinions on things, respect that.

My man 2004 is probably right on with this (seeing as he is such an astute poster). He will be at 3 mill this yr. :)

Sorry...your opinions are way dumber than anyones I have ever heard before.

I respect your opinions so much I even quoted you and put you in my sig...one of them has already been proven wrong on your side of the table.

No offense, and I'll say this even though I do not agree with RobA much either.

It's hard to criticize someone's opinion by calling them "way dumber". I just laugh hearing that.

    Wow, thats amazing :eek:hmy:

7m under...looks like we have some wiggle room in free agency. Im not expecting us to break the bank on any one player, but well be able to pick up some role players that might fill some holes heading into the draft.

7m...and that dosent even include Kendall. If we could get DRob to restructure, wed probably be in even better shape heading into FA. Maybe even enough to make a significant purchase

    Rookies will probably cost 5-6M.

Ah well. So 1 mill in wiggle room. Still better than being 27 mill over the cap

I don't think that anone does'nt believe he's a team player. It's just that you can't keep throwing away seasons on his shoulder anymore! It's great news "if" he signed a one year contract. You could'nt give him a multi year contract unless you knew the injury problems were gone, and only time can tell that. He has'nt even thrown a pass yet since the injury!

Excellent deal for the Jets. Now we should try and sign McCown/Collins and we can let Chad pretty much try out for the job next season. If he flops, say hello to Brady Quinn or Stephan Lefors. We have a ton of needs and it would be smarter to address RB, OL, TE, LB, or DT in the first 3 rounds instead of drafting Cutler or Croyle.

I think because of this situation we should try and deal Abe for a 2007 1st rounder.... giving us an oppurtunity to package our 1sts for Quinn if we're not in position to get him already.
