While I agree that Chad isn't Bledsoe, I disagree with you comparing Brady and Chad. There is a world of difference between those two. Well, ignoring the arm strengths, Chad is actually very similar to Peyton. Great play action, good reads, immobile, but none of the arm. If you've read my other posts, you probably realize I dislike Peyton. I hope Chad doesn't copy Peyton's ego and playoff and top defense futility. It's too bad, without the arm, I don't think the Peyton "pocket" passer type is any good. You need SOME mobility in this league, or teams can just drop back into coverage. Even Philip Rivers and Carson Palmer will ocasionally run on a defense that insists on dropping everyone back into coverage, I don't think Chad is really capable of this though. I don't want or expect a Vick out there, but a McNabb or Steve Young is great to watch. Chad is suited for the WC offense, and it seems in this type of offense some running ability is helpful. Maybe we need to run more screens? We've never been a good screen team, but if the opposing defenses insist on dropping everyone into coverage, maybe a screen to Coles or Cotchery to make them pay would be a good idea. I think we do well on slants too, I don't know if we had many of those today. Can someone comment on why we were so futile on offense today? I listen in on the radio and then grab the torrents when they're up if I get the chance, so i don't get to observe anything on my own really, I have to take the PBP of others.
Its really hard to critize Pennington when he has been almost singlehandly keeping the Jets in games. Without his good play we would have lost all 5 games and none of them would even have been close. There have been only a few players that have contributed much if anything this year. Pennington, Coles, Cocthery and Rhodes. No one else has bothered to show up. He can't do it all himself every week. It would be nice if the rest of the team showed up to the games to. No Ol, no run blocking, no pass blocking, no running backs, no defensive line, terrible linebacking, no tacking and no secondary. Oh did I mention no defense. No heart and no enthisuiasm. Besides Pennington, some good WR play and few blitzed by Rhodes and the rest of the team might as well have taken the first 5 games off. I have been critical of Pennington in the past but he has been spectacular this season with no support while team has played 5 games wiith no emotion or enthusiasm. I am sure he will be back the next 3weeks. We play three games the next three weeks that we should win as long as Pennington plays well even if the rest of the team refuses to show up again. With Pennington this is a 8-10 win team this season. Without him we would be lucky to be a 2 win team. We would certainly be 0-5 now without him.
I dont have much to say about this thread other than this ... what did we ALL really think was gonna happen this season???? ... Chad would come back and deliver us to the SB with a 1st time HC, a 1st time OC, a 1st time GM, ALL in their 30's, in their 1st draft and FA period, with a running game that SUCKS ASS. Oh and by the way Leon Washington SHOULD have been starting from DAY ONE, just my thoughts the kid is fast and can hit the hole quickly and is a decent tackle breaker for a squirt. I will remind ALL posters pro and con that ONCE AGAIN, this is a REBUILDING year we ARE NOT gonna be more than a VERY GOOD .500 to SUB .500 team. We beat the teams we should and lose to the teams we should and other than this game have had the chance to be a 4 - 0 team. This loss is a COLLECTIVE EMBARRASMENT from the Coaching staff, to the players to the REFS. Chad is in a system that suits him well. Its a system that allows him to use his BEST tool, his BRAIN. In the NFL if you CANNOT run the ball, you cannot STOP the run, YOU CANNOT WIN. Period, Point blank. when 5-7 200lb, runts can run and break tackles like they are 6'0+ 230lb running backs, its EMBARRASING. You want someone to blame for this, blame Mangini for NOT having the stones to SCRAP the 3 - 4 until he can get the PROPER 2 gap NT to keep linemen off of smallish Vilma. DRob is NOT the answer at the NT. Blame, Barlow for being a SLOW and PLODDING running back who hits the hole so slowly my GRANDMOTHER can put a nice lick on him, he does too much dancing around in the backfield before he actually hits the assigned holes. Blame the REFS and the NFL for turning the game into TOUCH football. the calls against VILMA and BARTON where ATROCIOUS. Sans that the JETS imploded today, because those 2 calls only accounted for 14 points. Chad may not have a GREAT arm but the one thing that kid has is SMARTS and is an EXCELLENT decision maker who has no running game, so the defenses can lock in on his receivers because they know the play action IS NOT a factor which is something Chad does VERY WELL. By the way PRIOR to this game Penny had only 2 INTS and was 2nd in the league in OVERALL Passer Rating, that defeats your point that he's a bad decision maker. Even the GREATEST QBs have TERRIBLE games. NY fans are just too SPOILED, between the Yanks, Mets, Knicks, Jets, Giants, Rangers and Islanders, we've seen too many periods and think its gonna happen EVERY year with EVERY team. I would LOVE to see that but I'm a REALIST. Even a GREAT city like NY is gonna have dry periods from its sports franchises, thats why I DID NOT leap off a building when the Yankees ONCE AGAIN crumbled early in the playoffs. I'd have to say that people need to slow up, get a grip and face the facts, this is a SERVICEABLE team at best and it IS going to take AT LEAST 2 drafts to get this team to even being CONSIDERED a legit, SB contender. Right now dont even LOOK for a playoff berth. ITS NOT GONNA HAPPEN, maybe this thinking will cause some of the more brittle and SUICIDAL JETS fans to come down off the ledge. HAVE A NICE DAY! Your post is also flawed. We did a GREAT job passing the ball in the first 4 games, and gues what? WE STILL COULDNT RUN THE BALL.
Chad sucked yesterday and the team isn't good enough for Chad to be anything less than very solid. He has been excellent in games we should and can win which is all we need him to do. There are 2 or 3 QB in the league capable of carrying their teams against tough opponents. Chad is not one of those but he is very good. I don't see anyone else on our roster close to as good, in fact other than a handfull of current NFL QB's Chad is pretty dam good. If you did a honest evaluation of our teams starters ranked by position in the league, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Chad was the highest ranked player on our team.

Show me any game where the Packers are on the losing end of a blowout, and I'll show you Favre with no less than 3 ints. That is what happens when bad teams are getting beat badly by good ones. They force you to do things you ordinarily wouldn't.
See... Now youre just exagerating. His one INT against the Colts was not his fault. They went for it on 4th down and he had to force something. He had a great game against indy.
Chad played well against Indy. He played badly against NE for a half and Jax for the whole game. Jax and NE both run the kind of D that give Chad problems. They also give most NFL QB's problems. I think Chad is somewhat limited but compared to the general QB play in the league, it's really hard to criticize him. Right now our D front 7 is a much bigger problem than the QB. We are running a very sophisticated O, it will take time for it to fully gell. To Chad's credit, he is doing rather well with it in a very short time.

Hey C-Man it had 2 be said ... I mean each side had decent arguments with regards to HERM in the past between the sunshiners and darksiders but THIS TEAM. IS NOT a playoff team. Who'd we beat a TERRIBLE Titans team and an OVERRATTED Bills team who by the way will probably exact revenge against us in the Meadowlands. We lost to a good Patriots team and ALMOST came back to win against a damn good Colts team with the BEST QB in football. But because of our shortcomings we lost both games and we were just EXPOSED yesterday. We got RAPED before a NATIONAL audience by a VERY PHYSICAL team. We are moving in the right direction but COME ON MAAAAAAN. This is NOT the WORST team in the NFL and FAR from a PLAYOFF contender. We SHOULD beat the brakes of Miami sunday we shoud be above or AT .500 by the bye and then reality well set back in once we play some teams that can ACTUALLY compete. PEACE!!!
come on man, alright I admit i get bored never seeing the ball fly deep down the field, but Chad is still a smart QB and is going to get it done. pennington had to force throws yesterday noone was open he would have time in the pocket but everyone was covered, the jags had up to 5 DB's against when we only had 2 WRs. He took a chance the only thing we can do. And he dosen't have that supporting cast yet besides the receivers. Put it this way if we had enough time on the clock with time outs and Pennington had to drive this team down the field would you trust him, cuz i sure fu*king know I would. Mad typos lol

We almost always play bad against physical teams. It's been that way for awhile (and way too long IMO).
it's always so interesting to hear from all the pennyphiles ( the chad cult). there's always an excuse when he throws lob passes while other team's qbs are throwing darts. :rofl:
