Different with Kellen. Chad's play determines whether he continues to play; Kellen's play determines how we draft in 2008.

I really cannot figure out what is going on in Mangini's head at this point. Last year Chad was on borrowed time in TC and then went out and had his worst full season ever. This year he's continuing that trend but the Jets are looking like losers with him at QB. What on earth could be going through Mangini's mind as he watches all this happen?

Then people will say that a new QB needs to be drafted. There is absolutely no reason for anyone here to wear the green-tinted glasses for Clemens - he's done nothing to deserve that. If anything, I expect that there would be far more people saying that pulling Pennington was the wrong decision than people blindly ignoring shortcomings of Clemens that appear.

Now, if you're wondering what I think should be the sequence of events, that's easy - pull Pennington, start Clemens, play him for the rest of the season however he plays, and then evaluate his entire performance in January.

Hopefully Schlegel intercepts him as his last play.

I don't know what I'd be more pleased with: Jets blowout win, or chad struggles and we can see kellen again....

Maybe he is thinking Chad sucks but I don't want to rush Clemens development because of it?

This means Chadwillgoout there and make the safe completions so he plays to where noone is impressed but he also isn't blowing it.....and we will struggle....

Why can't Kellen just get the start and get pulled if he is bad, instead of putting him in when we are behind the 8-ball

as I thought, media rumor that everyone believed....

    "12:36AM - Pennington Comments On Mortensen?s Statement
Monday, October 22nd, 2007 by Gary Grund

Dan Leberfeld of Jets Confidential has a quote up from Jets quarterback Chad Pennington regarding the statement that was made by Chris Mortensen of ESPN that Pennington was told by head coach Eric Mangini, that he was on a short-leash this week. Pennington says the story is untrue.

    Pennington on Mortensen?s statement?

?I was never told I was on a short leash. That doesn?t sound like Coach Mangini. I was never told I was on a short leash. Nothing was ever said.?

?I just didn?t seem to look too much into the Mortensen statement from the beginning. I just knew it didn?t sound right?"
