he may be only choice or would you prefer Vinny,Jay or Brooks? this all with the presumption that Mr.Pennington is done.

Pennington has more heart in this league than any other football player I HAVE EVER seen in this day and age of the NFL. At times I am sorry to be a Jet fan because some of you fans are really arrogant and its disappointing. Chad Pennington deserves a second chance. Everyone deserves a second chance. The guy has more class than most NFL players. You Jet fans want to see this team win???? I sure as hell do and it should be with Chad. Not Cutler, not Fiedler, not Collins, or whoever. Chad Pennington is the leader of this team. When he goes into the huddle he kneels down and looks at every players face and tells them the play. No other Quarterback does that. I know the man had two severe injuries. BUT!!! both were in different locations. The first one was way more severe. The second one wasn't nearly as severe. Cutting this man is the worst thing this franchise can do. I guess the Jets don't really care about the cap because it will be 12 mill against it. But what do i know, im just some stupid Chad fan.

Cutting Chad is better for the salary cap in the future, and possibly this year (if the $3M savings is correct.)

Hes scheduled to have 8 million paid to him, theyre asking him to pass on it. The fact that they arent coming at him with a friendlier deal seems to indicate that for whatever reason, theyd rather take a painful cap hit and move on without him than reduce his salary to something reasonable and give him a chance to make a comeback. Nothing about the Jets stance indicates that they want to keep Pennington for 2-3 mil. They seem to be saying, accept next to nothing or get out. That indicates that even if your staying, they dont want you there.

In short, their failure to offer him something reasonable indicates that they dont want him around. So even if he ends up having to accept 1 mil on the open market, at least hell be playing for a team that thinks hes worth having around.

Mangini is so quick to make an assumption that Chad isn't worth the money. Give the guy another shot, let him compete in training camp against whoever they get. The Jets are sooooo stupid when it comes to money. Abraham-gone, Mawae-gone, Kendall-gone, Fabini-gone, Law-gone, Martin-pay cut....

No! How could you say that? This is going to be our starting QB in 2006!

RobA the faster you realize Fiedler is NOT staying the better off you will be. I think he is due to make 4+ million dollars next season...

Not only is he beginning to age he also has the bloated contract, hurt shoulder, and how about this one? HE SUCKS!

Dump law, keep Mawae. Everything starts with the O-Line. No one is better at Center than Mawae, the best center since Anthony Munoz. A great O-Line makes a good QB great. Imagine, if you will, what Marino would have become on the Jets and likewise, Ken O'Brien on the Fins. 2 good QB's, except that the Fins had a rock solid O-Line and we had..." wait there's a flag on the play...holding..... # 72; 10 yd penalty repat 1st down"

Just throwing that one out for you guys to think over.

I think there was more to Marino's success being greater than O'Brien's then just a better O-line. But I agree with you about doing what we can to keep Mawae.

I was wondering if maybe we are looking at this from the wrong angle. Mangini was an opposing (in Division) Defensive Coordinator. He would know better than most people what the strengths and weaknesses of our offense are because he had to gameplan against it. Now then, if he felt that a certain player wouldn't be able to hurt his previous team, or that said player was easy to gameplan against, why would he want that player on his team once he took over?

Lets not forget the $22million he's already banked. Its not like Chad will be applying for foodstamps anytime soon here. He can well afford to take the hit and if he's as confident in his ability to come back as he says? Go with the incentives and make the money back. Prove it ON THE FIELD instead of on the IRL.

This man hasn't played ONE full season yet, pocketed more than $1million dollars PER GAME, and now he doesn't want to help the team out by taking the cut and playing for incentives?

Yeah, he's getting bad advice alright. It used to be called Greed. Now, I guess it's "business". Go figure..

This is one of the best explinations of this whole situation. Pennington was offered a contract that would pay him a small amount and then he could reach the rest in incenatives. He is just being greedy because he wants more guaranteed money just like all the money he got for being hurt the last two years. I love the guy as a person but he is not worth the money he is recieving and if he feels the offer isnt good enough then let him walk eat the hit this year and work towards the future.

On top of that I really feel that Mangini also wants a new face of the franchise. By cutting Chad he is starting from scratch no face of the team anymore with Mawae Law and Chad all gone. Now the defense is around Vilma and the Offense is around ??? Well see with the #4 Pick.

Strong feeling Cutler will become the new face of the franchise
