It is truly pathetic that virtually every thread that involves a Met or a Yankee degenerates into moronic name-calling.
I think the litmus test is, tell Pedro he is "greasy" to his face and see how he would respond to that comment. Thats NOT telling someone how you feel about him as a baseball player. There are definite underlying ethnic undertones in your statement. I had this argument once with Junc; the "greasy" comment to Hispanic people is as derogative as the "n" word is to black people.
I meant it more as a joke than anything & I took greenmachines response as a joke as well. Besides what is rascist about having greasy hair, he has a soul glo haircut for gods sake. Everyone needs to chill a bit..
I havn't seen this kind of crap talking for a long tome..... but I gotta tell ya....I Love it..... all in good natured team competition....
Would anyone be scared of pedro? Even w/ his new steroid body that has him up to 190 from 170? He's a little GREASY punk. It's not racist, it's a fact- he's greasy. Anyway, Pedro said he was ahead of roger when he saw roger's minor league start and that was 2 mos ago so what is taking him so long?
Roger has pitched very well outside of the ChiSox start which bloated hs ERA, if pedro pitches as well as Roger has you guys will be doing carwheels.
Actually he has an ERA of 4.50 or higher in 6 of 12 starts this year and had a 5.32 ERA for the entire month of June. He's been pretty good in his other 6 starts, but hasn't given a whole lot in terms of innings. He hasn't been terrible, but I certainly wouldn't say he's pitched "very well outside of one start." He's been hit or miss and absolutely nowhere NEAR worth the money he's getting.
