Not really. The Yankees get players because they double the amount other teams would pay. When the Pats get a star player (very infrequently, Moss, Thomas), they get the player at less money than the guy would make elsewhere.
I never say things like this. But if they get him, I will not watch any football this season. What will be the point? Die Brady Die
ok patriots fans... who is andre tippett? john hannah? mosi tatupu? john stephens? irving fryar? craig james? who did he share the backfield with in college since you should get it easy being he is on tv every week during the season. i will almost guarantee that none of you new fans know who more than 3 of those guys are. why that is because back in 88 i went to that shithole foxboro and guess how many fans were there in the bleachers? about 15k. sorry ass patsys. i hope that bandwagon can carry all of you characters cause i dont think it was meant to carry the ENTIRE fanclub.
I read somewhere that due to some rule Carolina isn't allowed to seek trade offers on him yet, something with him not having signed the franchise tag contract yet. So right now only his agent can seek out trade offers and Carolina can accept or reject them as they come in.
LOL, sad thing is, I know who all these guys are, I used to hate all of them. Though I thought Tatupu was a cool name.
Adam Schefter has been on the local sports radio this mourning, saying that there's no way this happens. And that's sort of what I'd been thinking all along, this really isn't something that is a typical BB move. Moving good value draft picks for high priced, overvalued stars that will quickly decline after you get them...that's not how the Pats are successful. This appears to be a rumor that was totally blown out of the water.
I don't think so. One can be attentive to the competitiors moves and still be focused on ones own product. Great companies are able to achieve this balance--including the Pats. The other teams allowing the Pats to get Moss gave the Pats a 16-0 record. Sometimes you have to block the competitor even at risk to yourself. Case in point (If you care to, google this) Winning Colors won the Kentucky Derby on the front end with easy fractions because there was no one willing to run with her lest their own horse be burnt out. She would have won the triple crown except that Woody Stephens decided to run his horse, Forty niner on the front with her so she would not merely coast to a victory. Both went down, Forty-niner finishing last I believe. What were the choices Stephens had? But he did it for another reason--to send the message that he would not tolerate such a situation in the future. This speaks volumes to the competition. Similarly, if the Jets had blocked Moss, the Pats would have to be concerned the Jets would do the same with Peppers and may not even try for him given the cost of the combat they would perceive as coming. Stephens lost that day, but won the future. Merely letting the competition dominate you without acting actually assures that you will be defeated today and tomorrow.
If this trade did happen, Peppers for a second, I'd be watching to see if the Chiefs and Panthers made a trade that was just as beneficial to the Panthers. Kind of like a 3-way sweetheart deal, Cassel, Peppers and some Chiefs player to be named.
I was at the first night game at Schaeffer Stadium....coldassed metal seats and all...traffic jams... getting out after game ended took 2 hrs..... Watched Parelli play as well as Gino Capalletti ......blackouts on tv if game wasn't sold out 72 hrs beforehand.... Bandwagon fan my ass

I hope they do get him now, because one less person who believes championships are automatically won by the splashiest free agency signings or trades would make this a better place.
